LET ME VENT!
Imagine, if ya will, rolling on a wagon or horseback all day or even spending the day working on your property. Sounds that surround you include those that accompany most of the Appalachian region “back in the day”. Sounds from birds, saws, and the clip clop of the horses walking fill the day.
Then, ya hear it… a tune… music coming straight from the folks in this area. They’re not playing Les Pauls! Some of these guys and gals are using spoons, washboards, and their own voices to accompany the vocals of whichever hillbilly sung best.
Wow, something ya never heard…. Songs about work, nature, and the Appalachian way of life. Something that resonated with ya a little because it is from right here at home. You go back home to possibly making some tunes yourself….let me get my washboard out.
Those days are gone folks…
There are not a lot of people that support local music anymore and this is not about me!
I have heard many great singers and songwriters from this area, as early as in our childhood. They were amazing singers worked hard playing and practicing the music that they feel.
Some of them are FINALLY finding success elsewhere and rightfully so…
They are trying to find their way now through the sea of mass produced 💩 we listen to every day now. Songs that are written by the same songwriters using the latest and greatest in catchy terminology…. I could go on…
I say all that to ask ya this friends. I know a lot of you guys listen to smaller artists and there are certainly exceptions to what I am saying here so, who are they!?
