The Company’s mission is to educate young children and teens on Domestic Violence through dance, while learning proper necessities to successfully achieve discipline, technique and self-esteem in the performing arts. Poetry N Motion Dance Company was founded in 2005 by Kiima Morrison with a mission to provide young children and teenagers with the proper necessities to successfully achieve discipline, technique and self-esteem in the performing arts. She is not only teaching her own movement but a theory of something personal and passionate. She believes that dance is not only a pleasurable and challenging physical activity, but also an opportunity to grow intellectually and emotionally. Dance develops creativity and problem solving ability, and most importantly team work , discipline and responsibility. She now uses dance as a way to teach teens about Domestic Violence. Sadly in 2006 one of her dearest friends Angela Santiago was a victim of Domestic Violence and did not survive. Since then Poetry N Motion has been and will continue to be in honor of Angela and all the animals at The Montgomery County Humane Society that Angela loves so dearly.
