Challenge yourself as an artist. Do things that are out of your comfort zone, even if it means letting go of perfectionism. I learned that from Bob Ross.

I had a bunch of extra tiny canvases so I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to try my hand at a quick impressionism style painting (last slide is a photo I took in my backyard for reference).

My challenge to myself was to just let the paint go wherever it went and just let it be, without any touchups. I didn't really paint with deliberate strokes, I basically just slapped the paint in the generally vicinity of what I saw in the reference.

Believe it or not this is more psychologically demanding for me than doing realism, even though this took only a few minutes to paint. It took everything in me to not try to make it look exactly like the reference and to let it have that "messy" look.

Hi, I thought I'd introduce myself as an artist! My name is Autumn Rose. Here's a little bit about me, plus some of my original art work. The self portrait on the first slide is original as well :)

Working as an instructor for studio franchises, it feels like I hardly get to be myself and to show off my own art style and my own work, that isnt copyrighted by the franchise.

That's why I'm so excited to start doing my own thing at Autumn's Apron!

Happy Autism Acceptance/Awareness month! This month is very special to me as someone who is on the spectrum.

I figure this is a good time to let everyone know how important it is to me that neurodivergent people, and anyone with disabilities, are accommodated at my events.

As an instructor, I take special care to accommodate those who may need extra help during my events, and to foster an environment void of any judgement.

I also welcome our autistic and neurodivergent patrons to unmask, be themselves, and do whatever they need to feel comfortable 🩷
