Andrew Vowles and his team have truly built something awesome in Midtown and I couldn’t be more proud of him and to be able call him a friend.

Next performance is this afternoon to celebrate the 5th anniversary of one of my favorite spots to eat/hang in Rockford: Ernie’s Midtown Pub! Welp. Got really bad about posting this last week. I had a fun bunch of performances these last seven days (U Club, Verdi Club, Dixon City Market) and I have another really fun weekend coming up (The Top Rooftop Bar & Lounge tonight 8/28 from 7-10 and celebrating Ernie’s Midtown Pub’s 5th anniversary tomorrow 8/29 with two sets 2-4 & 5-7). Next performance is a rare Monday gig Aug 3 at Red Robin in Rockford.
•
I couldn’t help but to think of Glen Hansard my entire performance tonight. Sure, I played “Falling Slowly” as a tribute, but all I could think of was his joy and love for playing and writing. He sang every song with his whole being and like it was the last time he would sing it (so glad I finally got to see him two years ago open for Pearl Jam at Wrigley). How blessed and fortunate I am to be able to play music in front of people regularly. Thank you for supporting me and allowing me to sing in front of you for so many years, friends. I hope I have multiple decades of singing left for you still. I will sing my songs like it’s the last time I will get to sing them because it might be. Life is fragile. Cherish it. I hope I make you proud.
