Mail's HERE!

I'm so excited that my first purchase from .and.iron.forge came in this past week. These amazing, hand-forged tools were recommended by last fall during her Kudzu workshop, and I've finally pulled the trigger and purchased!

I can't wait to use these as I dive into my harvested kudzu over the next couple of months. Stay tuned for upcoming projects!

One of the best things about creating art are the people you meet along the way. The friendships I've made through basket weaving have been an unexpected result of the process.

I've met amazing people through classes and workshops , mustered the courage to ask some really generous people to harvest from their lands, and even get to spend quality time with my brother.

Who knew baskets would end up bringing so many lovely people into my life!

In addition to spending three days creating Bark Satchels this past weekend, and I were able to harvest and process rivercane during our trip.

We are grateful for friends who allowed us access to this cane stand and are excited continue to weave from this amazing material.

It's Native Nonprofit Day, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than to make a donation to the Catawba Cultural Center.

I have the privilege of coordinating Catawba citizen programming through the Cultural Center as my day job. Through this programming we are able to protect, preserve, promote, and maintain the rich cultural heritage of the Catawba Nation by providing traditional arts and culture programming for citizens.

This year the majority of donations will be used to fund our week-long culture camp over the summer, where Catawba youth are encouraged to learn the language, art, and history of their people.

Please consider making a donation today-

I had a wonderful weekend attending Bark School with and can't get over how obsessed I am with my completed bark satchel.

Every time I attend one of her classes I fall in love with another material that I want to start working with immediately. Bark is definitely one that I will be weaving with again.

I am so very honored to announce that my ArtPop Street Gallery billboard will be featured in the organization's Upcycled Fashion Show & Community Arts Fundraiser this fall.

It is being made into a wearable work of art designed by the amazing Virgil Ortiz, who will be a special VIP Guest Designer for the event😲 After having a piece of my art displayed alongside his larger than life pottery at the Hickory Museum of Art last summer, this connection feels like a full circle moment!

I can't wait to see what he creates!

If you want to see the big reveal alongside me this fall, be sure to grab your tickets to the 6th Annual Upcycled Fashion Show:

📚Happy World Book Day!

Did you know that before using my Instagram for my art, I used it to share the books I was reading? (Yep! It was a Bookstagram account)

I love to read-- especially horror! I collect Stephen King first editions, and I'm currently working my way through all of this published works.

In the past, I've skipped around a bunch depending on my mood, but now I'm going through chronologically and hitting all of his books that I've missed. I recently finished up the few holes I had in the novels he published in the 1970's.

My King 1970's Rankings:

1️⃣ The Shining
2️⃣ Salem's Lot
3️⃣ The Stand
4️⃣ The Long Walk
5️⃣ Carrie
6️⃣ Night Shift
7️⃣ The Dead Zone
8️⃣ Rage

Now I'm onto the 1980's and the first book of the batch that I haven't read yet-- Firestarter!

So how about you! Do you like reading? What genres? Would you like to hear more about what I'm reading more regularly?

Happy Earth Day Friends!

How grateful I am to be working in an art discipline that borrows from and honors the earth. Taking raw materials and turning them into something new, makes me feel like I'm creating alongside the earth and with its gifts.

Sharing this time creating in nature with my family makes the experience even more special.
