I started painting in a spare bedroom. I have painted in the car, outside, on my porch, and even though I have a studio now, I still enjoy painting inside my house. The biggest thing is being consistent with your dream. I had no idea my dream would take me here. I started when I was 30 years old. God has blessed me so much over the years with the perseverance, motivation, and belief that you can make your life into something that is catered just for you. Has this been easy? No. It’s okay for it to feel hard. That doesn’t mean it’s not working out. Whether it’s being an artist in the evening as a hobby or making it into a full-time career, both are important in serving you in the way that you want to integrate your time is an artist. Being an artist is so much more than making money off of art. It’s a way of finding yourself and resetting yourself through the magic of creation. This past month has been a lot of commissions, and I’m looking forward to painting some new originals soon. It’s all about balance. Between vendor events, creating original art, classes, commissions, installing and flipping storefronts, there are so many different lanes that you can set your feet into. You don’t have to do it all. You can create your own lane of art. I love how this career has given me room to grow with all the different seasons. My art journey never stays the same because the economy & my clientele needs are always changing and evolving, and so are my family needs. I love that flexibility to pivot. I love that I can be my own boss and still fulfill the desires that I have to create and put it out into the world. I hope this inspires someone to show up from themselves, start somewhere, and believe in big dreams.🖤✨💫
