Established in 1970, GFD is Western New York leading artist-led, predominantly Black cultural institution, and home of the Fagan Technique, the movement foundation for The Lion King on Broadway.

Movement meets the runway.

Garth Fagan Dance joins on Saturday, October 17, for a special performance featuring original choreography by Artistic Director Norwood "PJ" Pennewell and costume design by Rochester's own Nate Johnson.

Now in its 16th year, Fashion Week Rochester celebrates local designers and creatives while supporting youth experiencing homelessness in partnership with The Center for Youth. This year's theme: "Reimagined: Create. Dream. Inspire." Tickets are sold out, so we're grateful to everyone coming out to celebrate with us!

Explore simple movement using Fagan Technique directives—and even create some of your own! All are welcome, and no prior dance training is required. 💃🏾

The exhibition celebrates the extraordinary work of sculptor John Rhoden and features a special collaboration with Garth Fagan Dance, connecting Rhoden’s sculptures with movement created by Artistic Director PJ Pennewell.
