I've been crazy busy lately heading up an amazing volunteer team at Community Christian Church in Chili NY, getting ready for our HUUUUUGE annual community garage sale!! String with at least a double thread whenever possible - unless there's a compromise at the end cap, your strung pieces should be able to withstand a break without scattering. They should still be restrung for security but, if you guarantee your work or offer lifetime warranty, this simple little extra few inches of thread can go a long way to preventing returns and repairs.

Sometimes I get vintage pieces for repair which require vintage elements to fix properly. The fun thing about that is that sometimes I buy an inexpensive lot just to get two or three small pieces... and then I get to go through all the bonus treasures!

I've been working with an estate lot of antique and vintage linens recently and was delighted to find this beautiful linen handkerchief with its ornate handmade lace border. My mom made lace like this; in fact the pendant pictured here with the handkerchief is one of her pieces. I was saddened to read recently that the number of bobbin lace makers has dropped to a point where it's considered an endangered craft in the UK.

I will be doing simple on the spot fast fashion and costume jewelry repairs FREE IN PERSON today at the monthly Fix It Clinic at Community Christian Church, 2647 Chili Ave NY14624 from 10am to noon.
If you have a favorite piece that needs a hook, clasp, link, extension , chain shortened, something reattached or untangled, come and see me! Also triaging for more complex repairs.
I don't care if you got it at Walmart or Claire's or even Temu, if you love it I'll try to fix it 😊
