Another beautiful class filled with beautiful souls who created, played, and released! I had a blast facilitating these women who dove right in with enthusiasm, excitement, and fun.

This class we explored using our intuition with mixed media. Using what materials called to be put onto the canvas board, layering to create texture and depth. As you can see, the results are all so different and beautiful.

I’m so grateful to be able to be my authentic self. I’m still on the journey, riding the wave, but where I am today feels good. I was able to make my own creation during the class and experienced a lot of full circle moments (More about that in a post to come.)

NEW CLASS ALERT! I will be hosting classes in August and September at Crystal Cottage Roanoke. For these two classes we will focus on using mixed media to create a piece unique to you! Mixed media is layering multiple types of art media (Paper, paint, ink, etc.) in a single composition. You will choose the materials that speak to you and create away! For the last 24 hours my heart has been overflowing with gratitude. I held my first public intuitive art painting class at Crystal Cottage last night. Twelve beautiful and open minded souls came to create together. Thank you for your support and willingness to try something new. What once was a dream for me put in a journal many years ago became a reality. I feel proud and truly blessed. 🙏❤️

This is how I create. It’s me. This is an example of intuitive art. No plan, no rules, just flow. Is the anatomy accurate? No, it’s not. Does it matter? No, it doesn’t. I don’t know who she is or why her image came through the color today. Did I try to “fix her”? Yes. Did at one point I think she was ugly and wanted to stop? Yes. Do I loved how she turned out? Mostly.

Observing and understanding my own creative process helps me guide others through theirs. Intuitive art is not “perfect”. It doesn’t fit in a box. What comes out is often way more beautiful. Why? Because it’s authentic. It’s letting your creativity flow out with no plan or anticipated outcome. Does the flow often start and stop, old doubt patterns emerge, the need to control take over? Absolutely and it’s ok. The key is to not to give up and find beauty in what’s on your canvas.

By the end of this piece, i knew exactly who this was and why it needed to come through. That is the true beauty and joy of this work. The sense of accomplishment you feel, especially after you work through your insecurities, is palpable.
