Experienced Custom Framer / Frame Shop Specialist
Richmond, VA | Full-Time (30+ hours/week) | Start ASAP
Bon Air Custom Frames (BACF) is hiring an experienced custom framer to join our team in Richmond, VA.
We’re not looking for someone to “learn the basics” — we’re looking for a true professional who can step in with little to no training, take ownership of the day-to-day workflow, and help build this shop into something major.
This role is a real opportunity for the right person to become the primary operator of the business as we grow — with a potential path to part ownership for the right long-term hire.
PAY + SCHEDULE
• $20/hour minimum (higher based on experience)
• Full-time: 30+ hours/week
• Flexible scheduling in the beginning
• Opportunity for partnership / part ownership for the right motivated candidate
WHAT YOU’LL DO (FULL SERVICE ROLE — NO SILOS)
This is a true full-service frame shop position. You’ll be expected to handle the full process, including:
Shop + Production
• Cutting moulding
• Joining / pinning / assembly
• Cutting mats
• Cutting glass
• Full frame fabrication and finishing
• Quality control (high standards are non-negotiable)
Customer + Front-of-House
• Greeting customers and managing the full in-shop experience
• Frame design consultations (moulding + mat choices, layout, etc.)
• Writing up work orders + creating invoices
• Taking payments and running checkout
Operations
• Ordering supplies
• Managing inventory and staying organized
• Maintaining a clean, professional shop environment
REQUIREMENTS
• 1+ years of experience working in a full-service custom frame shop
• Must be able to run the job from start to finish (design → fabrication → checkout)
• Organized, dependable, and detail-obsessed (measurement accuracy matters here)
• High standards and pride in craftsmanship
• Customer-friendly, professional, and confident in communication
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Strong hand/eye precision and comfort working with fragile artwork

We are already set up with high-end equipment and systems, including:
• DeWalt DWS790
• Brevetti underpinner
• Fletcher equipment
• POS system ready
• Location selected
