Attention Richmond Composers! 💫
We want to help you workshop your works in progress!
This August Classical Revolution RVA is hosting a Community Reading Session and Workshop at The Basement!
We want to offer the opportunity to Richmond area composers to submit a piece or an excerpt of a piece to be workshopped by local musicians in a casual environment for our August Community Reading Session and Workshop.
We know how difficult it can be to get a first reading of your work with live musicians. This event series is designed to cultivate community and connection between local composers and professional musicians.
We only have room for 3 composers in this round, but rest assured these events will be recurring throughout the year.
Please read the following before submitting:
We are looking for pieces or excerpts for instruments we commonly see in the CRRVA community such as: Classical Guitar, Clarinet, Trumpet, Violin, Viola, Cello, Vocalist, Piano, Flute, Mandolin, etc. If you have a question about instrumentation, feel free to ask before submitting.
Please only submit pieces or excerpts that have not been formally premiered or performed. The idea of this experience is to utilize the community knowledge and expertise of the players to enhance works in progress or late stage drafts.
In order to be considered for this opportunity you must be available on August 29th at 7pm.
Please only submit for this experience if you are willing to receive community feedback. The sessions will be moderated by Executive Artistic Director Betsy Podsiadlo to ensure constructive and helpful discussions. Please note you are by no means required to implement any suggestions or feedback received in the session, but the goal of the session will be to provide constructive feedback.
Submission performance time should be 4 minutes or less in length
When submitting scores please submit files for full scores, as well as individual parts as needed in PDF form. No Finale, Sibelius, or Musescore files please.
Please email all submissions to [email protected] by no later than 5pm on August 20th to be considered for this round of workshops!
