Welcome to Kaatia’s Music & Theatre Academy!
My name is Kaatia and I am absolutely thrilled that you’d like to come on this adventure with me.
A little about me and why I started this organization:
I grew up LOVING theatre, especially musicals — and found at an early age that theatre has SO many benefits beyond just entertainment; theatre encourages empathy and communication, improves confidence and academic performance, increases focus and creativity, teaches teamwork and collaboration, fosters community and reflects culture, and is a wonderful way to learn, grow, develop new skills, make connections with others, and share talents. Music is also excellently fantastic because it stimulates memory, helps with mental health, strengthens social bonds, and improves general well-being.
Because I believe in music and theatre so much, I have been teaching private voice and theatre lessons for years, have created and run multiple summer theatre camps for children and teens, have directed, choreographed, music directed, and stage managed plays and musicals (as well as done most other backstage roles such as props, sets, house, lighting, hair and makeup, and more), have created concerts and other community events, and have designed and taught many different kinds of educational theatre classes for people of all ages and abilities.
I have also been performing on stage for decades, and my very favorite thing to do is help people feel things through stories I get to share, through acting, singing, and dancing. Some of my most treasured roles include The Narrator (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Marian Paroo (The Music Man), and Milly (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers). I want others to have the same kinds of opportunities I have been blessed to experience, and I believe that music and theatre arts is one of the best ways we can learn to care about each other, educate one another, empower individuals, develop remarkable skills, and share our abilities.
