It's time for rest and regrowth for Nevada lavender. Thanks for sharing Viking Girl Lavender.

And just like that… the 2026 lavender harvest is in the books. 💜🌿

The last of the lavender has been harvested, and every bit has been put to work.

Some has been dried and processed into buds for our sachets and culinary products. The rest headed to the still, where it became the lavender essential oil and hydrosol we’ll use in Viking Girl products throughout the coming year.

The field looks a whole lot different than it did a few weeks ago. The purple is gone. The bees have moved on. And after weeks of harvesting, drying, debudding and distilling, there’s something pretty satisfying about looking out there and knowing what came from those rows.

We’re not quite finished yet. 😂

The plants still need their annual trim, and we’re going to try our hand at propagating again—because apparently 650 lavender plants aren’t enough to keep us busy.

But the biggest part of our farm year is complete.

It’s one of my favorite things about Viking Girl Lavender: so much of what goes into the products on our shelves starts right here, in this little field in Mason Valley.

Learn what it takes to put down roots for an orchard in Northern Nevada. Join us Saturday, Sept. 19, for a hands-on Orchard Development Workshop covering orchard production and management.

Local farmers and industry experts will cover variety selection, site selection, irrigation, pest and disease management, pruning and soil nutrition.

Do you want to learn more about growing in Nevada's climate. This workshop is a great opportunity, produced by the Desert Farming Initiative.

Interested in growing an orchard in Northern Nevada?

Join us for our Orchard Development Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and learn from industry experts and local farmers and explore the possibilities for orchard production and management in Northern Nevada.

This hands-on workshop will cover which varieties are promising in this climate and learn about site selection, irrigation, pest and disease control, pruning and soil nutrition management. The workshop includes classroom instruction, a guided walk through DFI's apple orchard and concludes with a tasting of Nevada-grown apples.

The workshop will be held at the Knudtsen Resource Center at the Experiment Station Valley Road Field Lab, 1000 Valley Road, Reno, NV 89512. Registration is $25 and includes refreshments.
