2025 SIERRA NEVADA GUITAR FESTIVAL
AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIELD OF CLASSICAL GUITAR
LAS VEGAS ACADEMY OF THE ARTS GUITAR PROGRAM

Greetings. This is Lawrence Smith, Director of the Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Festival. I'm happy to announce that our 2025 Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Field of Classical Guitar goes to the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts Guitar program, Dr. Lucas Finney, Director. This program is known throughout the world as an exemplary program for teaching guitar to high school age and other students and has conducted many wonderful collaborations with other organizations such as the Guitar Foundation of America. Our award usually goes to those who have specifically contributed to our festival and to others providing other service to the world. In this case the award goes to a very valued fellow Nevada organization which honors the state of Nevada. As usual this honor awards us as much as it awards you. Thank you and good luck.

DANIEL ROEST is our 2024 awardee for Distinguished Service to the Field of Classical Guitar. For decades Mr. Roest presented concerts by a wide array of Classical Guitar artists, performed extensively especially throughout Northern California and the West Coast, and influenced many as a teacher, pedagogue, and organizer. He was a Founder and Director of the South Bay and Sacramento Guitar Societies. Daniel is a friend, consultant, performer, competition adjudicator, and lecturer for the Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival. - sierraguitar.org

Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival will continue to present a couple concerts a year, often with visiting guest artists. However there will be no more multi-day festivals or music competitions.
