Orders of Magnitude

The Story Within the Alchemy:

"The dark mimeographed bodies of missing children arrayed like significant ink blots: you watch them blur, float in your attenuated eyes. A rivulet of milk flows through the boy as if in bubbling white water he hangs for a moment, as the canoe bottoms on a flat stone. Before he never comes back, he waves.

You shouldn't, you sit in
the hard hospice of your self
pressed on the kitchen table frozen with breakfast leavings. The phonograph enters the next room. The coffee slowly grays to dishwater. While trembling in the cold, two girls, their sleds in waxen hands, gather to fly down, down the icy darkness. The cry to each other is "watch!", they drop, they never come back.

Hendricks

Just a few decades ago Portland was home to scores of dirty bookstores, dirty theaters, dirty massage parlors and something called "lotion studios." At its height more than a dozen adult businesses were within a few blocks of City Hall, and the city played host to at least 15 adult movie theaters.

And this is a picture of two friends of mine in front of a waterfall.

After I made it, I thought I should make something more obvious for LA, but it literally is a Los Angeles street. Everyone that does something LAish always does same ol' same ol'. I decided to do a view of downtown. I did put stars in the sky, though. Scroll to see the original picture.

Golden Gal

The Story Within the Alchemy:

Golden Gal is a young woman from Colombia by the name of Rosalie. She loves to dance. She's danced all her life. I mean that literally. She has a very strange condition that makes her constantly dance. When she's eating, when she's sleeping, even when she's using the bathroom. It may sound exhausting but she has made a life from it. She loves it, actually. She says "there's worse things in life than having to dance all your life". She's a lovely person. One to admire. A real Golden Gal.

The Alchemic Process:

A pair of cool sox who's elasticity was gone.
My process of the transmutation is very similar to all my cell paintings. I started with the original picture and used Pixlr to run it through multiple layers of filters, tweaking them until I liked the outcome.
