I’m so thankful for all of the weeding and yardwork I’ve done with AN EXTRA HAND. In my travels I noticed a lot of bird feeders in the yards and saw many tiny little critters. It made me want to do something to help them. It brought me to building birdhouses, helping our little displaced friends who now have limited natural nesting places since so many trees have been destroyed. I love giving them another option and adding my spin on them. I love how the universe works if you just listen.

Yes! I put up a birdhouse that I made in my own front yard. I got a nifty, easy to assemble pole system and love it. I put it near my ornamental grass and a nearby tree so the fledglings have landing pads close by for their first flight. Here birdy….

Why I’m making birdhouses and bee hotels…my heart hurt seeing all of the displaced habitat. The increasing over-development motivated me to take action by constructing birdhouses, feeders, and bug hotels. I am also developing an optimal habitat by incorporating native plant species as well as vegetation that supports pollinators in performing their essential roles. I am trying my best to make this planet a little better, saving one bird, one bee, one squirrell, one bug at a time. And if I can spread that by sharing my creations, then I feel like I am doing my part.

What did you do with all your fallen branches? I started in a rustic fence in my yard. A lot of work but loving how it’s turning out. Hope to finish tomorrow. If I can move.

A little fun and whimsy with an old piece of driftwood I had around for over a decade. Now he is complete. I just have to figure out how to hang him then he can be yours.

During my slow time of year I appreciate the extra time to get creative. I have had this piece of driftwood for over a decade. Today I picked it up and for the first time in all these years I saw a cardinal. How did I not see it before?! So I worked with what my mind saw and created this one-of-a-kind piece of art. It’s drying now and will be available some time next week.
