Many thanks to juror Daniel Marshall for selecting my painting, Red Rose #1, for the Third-Place award in the Delaware Watercolor Society’s spring exhibition at the Lewes Public Library. I appreciate the feedback given by the juror in making his selection: “... A bold and intimate look at this beautifully rendered floral…A strong composition and the use of diagonals adds to the excitement of this piece. Bellissimo!”

On May 10, I did a book signing at the new Barnes & Noble in Rehoboth Beach. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with the many customers who expressed an interest in books and in my novel in particular. I am grateful to Byzantium Sky Press owner Crystal Heidel for arranging the opportunity to show my book in this store. If you haven’t been to the new Barnes & Noble, check it out. It is definitely a fun store for all book lovers!

Earlier this year, I did an event with the Hawthorne Book Club in Lewes, Delaware. Many thanks to Gale Deitch, author and events coordinator for the book club, for the opportunity to read from and discuss my novel. It was an honor to have my book selected as one of their readings. Byzantium Sky Press owner Crystal Heidel went as my guest and answered questions about the publishing process. Gale did a wonderful job of advertising and introducing us to the book club members. Being able to meet with readers and listen to their feedback and answer any questions about writing is one of my favorite things to do. It was a very enjoyable evening. Thanks to everyone who attended and participated.

In April, I participated in the first Beachside Book Festival at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. It was great to meet and talk with authors and vendors who shared a common interest in books and writing. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, especially to the Sussex County Public Libraries and Kristen Chelmow.
