Dear friends,
As we approach the holy season of Advent and then Christmas, I have once again painted and designed a card to share the true message of Christmas—the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
This year’s image depicts “The Annunciation”, which i first painted in egg tempera on a wooden board.
It is based on the remarkable altarpiece in the Portiuncula in Assisi, which I was fortunate to see in person few weeks ago, originally created by the priest Hilary of Viterbo (circa 1393–1450).
The scene shows the Archangel Gabriel appearing to the Virgin Mary beneath a golden background, announcing that she will bear the Son of God. Gabriel, radiant and graceful, gestures toward Mary, who turns toward him in humility, her hands crossed upon her chest in a gesture of acceptance.
A dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, descends toward her in a stream of light.
The simple and luminous composition reflects the Franciscan ideals of purity, obedience, and divine grace—uniting the mystery of the Incarnation with the humble spirit of the chapel itself.
You can preorder the cards through my website, or, if you live nearby, feel free to give me a call to arrange a meeting for pickup.
Cards are 7x5, folded, printed in the USA on beautiful, soft touch paper.
