Studying the evolution of Art took my homeschool group through the post renaissance era. We studied realism through portraits by having them bring their own self portrait to study. We learned the importance of shading, proportions, depth, perspective and placement. This was a tough one as portraits are but they were all up for the challenge and I was so impressed they remained persistent in completing the task. So proud of them.

Hey everyone!!!
I’ve had several inquiries from parents this week if I’m doing another session before summer in regard to sketching and story/craft classes which both seem to be very popular. I’m grateful to you all♥️ I would offer both beginning the end of May only if there is enough interest. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s same times as usual. Let me know if you’re interested. Our last story/craft class for this session and it was a blast!!!! Today we read Dora’s Eggs and the students requested another stuffy craft. So last class, the students with permission from parents got to go into Miss Tammy’s sewing room. It cracked me up because they were so excited to do that lol. They picked out their own fabric for their stuffy chicken. I last week cut the fabric and stitched them together. Today they learned how to safely use a needle, thread a needle, and hand stitch the back closed after stuffing them. So impressed and they were so proud of themselves. 🐔🐣🐔

We are studying the evolution of Art history in my homeschool group and I’m loving it. We left prehistoric art where we discovered the importance of it as we explored the first signs of civilizations and went right into medieval art. While Christianity played an important role expressing itself through art beginning in this era, we also learned Art played a role in telling us the story of the rise and fall of empires and civilizations through greed, battle, wealth, conflict, courage, bravery and strength. What better way to express this than the dagger and sword which stands for all above. We sketched our interpretations of what strength, courage and bravery is to us while learning shading, balance, depth, texture and proportions. So proud of their creativity!!! You kids nailed it♥️

We are having a blast in my story time/ craft class weekly. We are studying Art History in my Homeschool group starting with my absolute favorite, Prehistoric Art. Where it all began. Our assignment was to tell our story of who we are and what legacy we want to leave behind in art form. We went as organic as possible to replicate how it was done so long ago. Using charcoal, pastels and crumpled paper for texture, the kids created their story. After class, we all walked around and discussed them all. Soooooo creative. Great imagination. Great values and morals portrayed and couldn’t be more proud. Great group of kids. Can’t wait till next class😉

Our story/craft session began last week with a great life lesson. We are ALL good at something and it’s ok to not be great at everything. We learn our own way through the story, “Giraffes Can’t Dance!” We did a watercolor learning layering and color contrasts after they learned to sketch with proportions. So cute and so proud as they sketched them themselves.
