Curated by our Collaborative Curatorial Fellow, Alyssa Cuffie (@alwhyssa), this exhibition is a group show that explores the co-creation of the black family home and process of remembering.

Exciting announcement from our friends at NCSITE!
We are so excited to have NC Section ITE - NCSite support for our Collective Works project! They are matching every dollar raised up to $8,160 between now and June 12th! We are so humbled by the support from this professional group in memory of our mutual friend Todd Delk. Todd was a dedicated member of NCSITE and a longtime friend of VAE. Todd would currently be a member of VAE's board of directors if he had not taken his own life last year. He is greatly missed and with this partnership, VAE and NCSITE are doing our part to make sure our friends and family know they can always reach out to us when they need help.
Collective Works is a project to help fight the stigma of mental health and raise funds to help Nami Walks of North Carolina meet the increased needs of our community members living with mental illness. Throw in a few dollars, add some pixels, and walk by VAE’s windows to see the full image! Make your contribution here: https://vaeraleigh.org/collective
An exciting update on the NC Artist Relief Fund!

So many fun pieces to bid on in our Toilet Paper Art Benefit Auction! All proceeds benefit the NC Artist Relief Fund (https://vaeraleigh.org/artist-relief-fund). Plus you get a little piece of artistic history for your collection!
Amazing installation by Nate Sheaffer in our front gallery! Come by and see it tomorrow during First Friday!
Today is June 30, which is basically New Year’s Eve for nonprofits everywhere! 🥳 You can wish VAE a happy New Years and help us get a jump on next year’s programming by donating, becoming a member, or becoming a monthly sustainer! A few dollars goes a long way! Remember, small organizations like VAE exist 100% through the support of our community and FOR our community!
And before they let you go, gotta dance it out! That’s a wrap. Opulence Ball 2019 was a fabulous success! Thanks to @trey_sux and @zensofly #raleighpride

Eric Kniss has begun work on his cube installation. He has purposefully closed the cube gallery off to the public while he works and installed two monitors for the public to view. The monitor on the left is a live feed of the cube while the monitor on the right shows a sped up loop of his process from the beginning to present. His artwork considers labor and how we tie labor to the physical results. Asking us how we determine if labor actually took place if the only way we can see the result is through a digital experience. So from a wider perspective, how do you know an artist’s work, their process, and their results if you only ever experience it through online platforms?
Come by tonight for @firstfridayral for the closing of Carrie Fonder’s “Sometimes you eat the goat...” in our Cube gallery!
An homage to Samuel Oliver-Bruno. “I feel alright, we got no worries here... because I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”
Toshi Reagon is here and you should hear her voice reverberate in this beautiful space!
We are headed back to the Kmart this morning for cleanup duty after a WONDERFUL GALA last night! Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated the Triangle’s creative community!
ZenSoFly on #QueerHome
Today is the last day to hang in our #QueerHome. Here is ZenSoFly, one of the dope performers that graced our living room last weekend. Here's what she has to say about #QueerHome.
What do you have to say about it? Did you see it? How did it make you feel? What did you learn?
We are so thankful to LGBT Center of Raleigh for being an amazing project partner, our generous sponsors, all of the artists that were part of this project and every single person that entered our home.
You still have until 4pm to see our house. And our 35th Annual VAE Gala is tonight!
