Because the Beloved wants to know unseen things become manifest.
Hiding is the hidden purpose of creation:
Bury your seed and wait.
The heart is the secret inside the secret.
Call the secret language and never be sure what you conceal.
It's unsure people who get the blessing.

Life of an Artist. 🎶😍
Happy New Year!
AT THE END OF THE YEAR
As this year draws to its end,
We give thanks for the gifts it brought
And how they became inlaid within
Where neither time nor tide can touch them...
Days when beloved faces shone brighter
With light from beyond themselves;
And from the granite of some secret sorrow
A stream of buried tears loosened.
We bless this year for all we learned,
For all we loved and lost
And for the quiet way it brought us
Nearer to our invisible destination.

Something magical happened to me last night. I had the opportunity to paint a painting for FALC's Fabulous Fakes show. I chose Alphonse Mucha's Claire de Lune as the painting to immulate. It was such a joy to paint it and I learned a lot about expressing moonlight in a painting. That has been magical in and of itself. But then...
The reception and awards presentation was last night. Magic caught me off guard once again. I was honored to have been awarded First Place and People's Choice award. I literally have not won an art award since 7th grade. I was very honored because the artwork for this show was absolutely incredible. Then more magic... The most lovely part of the night was meeting so many incredible artists and having conversations with them about what they experienced painting these past artist's masterpieces. All beautiful people who I look forward to getting to know better. Thankyou to Catherine Martin of The Red Canvas Gallery for judging the show(a very hard task I am sure!)Thankyou Andrea Frank , Genie Lazcano, and Fine Arts League of Cary for coordinating this fabulous show! It remains up until November 6th, so if you have not seen it, magic is waiting for you at Cary Arts Center!
Been cutting out images for my upcoming SoulCollage(R) workshop in Raleigh on November 5th at Current Wellness. Come join me in the fun. Greet Clair de Luna, after Alphonse Mucha. She's all ready for the Fabulous Fakes Show presented by Fine Arts League of Cary opening September 28 wth a Meet the Artist night on September 30, ending November 26.
Claire de Lune is coming along! I love how the moon turned out! When she's finished, she will be submitted to the FALC Fabulous Fakes show.
I have begun my rendition of Claire de Lune by Alphonse Mucha for the Fabulous Fakes show with the Fine Arts League of Cary. I'm using my crazy background process of swirling fluid acrylic inks. You can see her face peeking through. I see gold and silver in her layers up ahead. The moon is rising!
The Ava GardnerFestival will kick off the weekend of October 7-9, with a concert at The Clayton Center which will feature Jonathan and Angelique. First Friday at 311 Gallery was so much fun! I brought my paints and set up my studio table. There were some awesome peoplecwho stopped by! I loved art chats with artists who stopped by and some of the resident artists as well.
I got settled into to my new space at 311Gallery, Studio 6, yesterday. I have loved my many years there. Come down to 311 West Martin St in downtown Raleigh and check out the monthly shows, and the fabulous resident artists and their wonderful artwork! Come on down an say hi on First Friday!
I am amazed at the quality of the wrapped canvas prints that I received from Pamor Fine Print! They have been coated with a protectant sealer and color corrected to match the original. They are stretched on a solid wood frame and prepared with a wire hanger. It is hard to tell the difference from the originals! Can you guess which ones are the prints? These wrapped canvas prints are available! PM me if you are interested!
My background is ready to receive some images. A lot of changes up ahead. But she seems serene and peaceful...waiting. I am now going to peruse animal images and see what wants to join the fun. I have started the process of painting in my mind...which is part of my creative process. Noodling.
"Sailing Underwater"

Acrylic
Original is sold. Luscious prints are available.
When I was a child, I had the opportunity to swim with sea turtles passing by in the inland canel that at my cousins's pier in Murrells Inlet, SC. I remember the turtle's eyes as it swam past me. Such wisdom and determination. It was a magical experience. Made braving the barnacles on the pier worth it!
"Grace Floats"
16x16 x2in wood cradle board
Mixed Media Original is sold, having luscious prints made!
I enjoyed painting swan and her littles so much! "Swan symbolize a lot of beautiful traits – grace, beauty, love, loyalty, and trust. They teach you to love your inner self, embrace all your flaws, and be loyal and faithful to the ones you love."
I love playing with color with acrylic inks, alcohol drops. Finger painting and brush splattering is so much fun. This is how I start my background for what is to come. Next mark making and stencils. There are some animals calling me. Not sure which one will show up here.
Living in the Power of Intention in 2015
I am wishing for you the power of intention for now and the future. I like the word “intention” so much better than “goal.” How can you live in intention?
Meet Bob, the Great Grand Paw Paw of all of our yard squirrels. I snapped a photo of him years ago, popping out from behind a tree, which I used as my reference. . He was quite social and "chipper!" If you would like to see Bob in the reals, come on out to 311 Gallery Studio 5 downtown Raleigh this week at First Friday. 6x4 acrylic on wood cradle board. Let me know if you are interested in having Bob come live at your house. He's great company and oh so cute!
Commission "Stella of the Stars" 11x14x2 acrylic all ready to fly to her furever home! Such an absolute joy to paint a soulful pet for some wonderful people!
