Revision 2026 was on fire this year with amazing productions from all corners of the scene.

1st Place PC Demo: the eponymous "Razor 1911". Wow. This was a love letter to our BBS scene. For many people, this will elicit a sense of nostalgia. For sysops, it is a celebration of what we're not just keeping alive but growing. And hey, Topaz textmode art by Goto80!

1st Place ANSI/ASCII/PETSCII: "More Headroom" by BassCadet. What a fun piece! The PETSCII scene really showed up in force for this compo, taking three of the top five spots. They deserve it; the level of talent in the Commodore 64/128 community is off of the charts.

I was very sad to hear about the recent passing of Espskog of the Norwegian BBS and demoscene and co-sysop of SilverHawk BBS.

He loved our community and was instrumental in helping resurrect the ABBS Amiga BBS software, which is now seeing active development. He was a supporter of Absinthe BBS and even generously donated hardware. He loved playing progressive metal with his band. He was a great guy with talent and a big heart.

Rest in peace, man. You were the real thing.

As foretold, aBSiNTHE now supports 50+ row terminals!

* 50+ row terminals now feature a limit + status display as well as the new aBS-fRONT! This displays who is on each node with their activity and logon time. It also displays sysop chat availability. Lastly, it looks damn sexy.

* All extended displays are now enabled in the file UI!

* Enhanced terminal dimension detection routine.

This is the perfect way to experience the new TERMinator mobile terminal app! Be sure to update your aBSiNTHE profile to 80 x 50 before calling.

The community has always lacked a truly intuitive and widely compatible mobile terminal for BBSes. No longer! I'm very happy to announce the release of TERMinator mobile BBS terminal for iOS and Android devices. This is a fork of SyncTERM under the GPL-2.0 license expanded and enhanced with new features specifically for mobile platforms. JSONBourne coded this outstanding fork. I contributed original textmode art as well as consulting and testing.

This is going to be, IMO, the best mobile app for BBSing hands-down. iOS users can grab the initial release right now from the Apple Store. The Android version is not yet on the Play store, but users can download it from aBSiNTHE BBS while we wait for approval.

This is a game changer for BBSing on the go. Big thanks to JSONBourne for his work and of course Deuce for his excellent terminal and generosity in making the source available under license. Without SyncTERM, there would be no TERMinator.

This is version one, so some issues are expected. Be sure to email any bug reports and suggestions to the developer; contact info is in the ABOUT tab.

aBSiNTHE has added extended support for tall terminals!

Live now:

* 30+ rows unlock a limits + stat display

* 37+ rows unlock a node status("WHO") display.

* Improved terminal detection and preference auto-update.

Much of the board is already dynamic and supports extra rows. Our Wormwood editor, wall, top file display, and SkullHack are a few examples. I will continue to add support to other parts of the board.
