Parrot Heads of North Carolina Party with a Purpose! For fans of Jimmy Buffett, especially - but not limited to those living in the Raleigh area. PHofNC History Lesson:
In early 1989, Scott Nickerson, then of Atlanta, GA, decided he had met so many great people “tailgating” before Buffett concerts that he should create a social environment to get those pholks together more than once a year.

His idea was to form a Parrot Head Club (a non-traditional fan club) that would provide volunteer support for community and environmental concerns. By the end of 1992, clubs had emerged in NYC, Orlando, Detroit, Beaumont, TX and New Orleans. Parrot Heads of North Carolina (PHofNC) was formed in 1994, by our phounder, Whit Procter. Hello All,

After careful consideration, the Board has come to the conclusion that it's in the best interests of our Members to cancel MargaRaleighVille for 2020.

We realize there has been so much disappointment already this year due to COVID-19, but due to all the uncertainty regarding the safety of large gatherings, coupled with the bad timing of soliciting sponsors from a community that's already reeling from business closures and unemployment, we don't feel this is the year for our biggest annual charity event.

We all love a good party, and our charities need our help, but the safety and health of our members will always come first! We hope to continue with plans for the annual Holiday Party and are considering the possibility of adding raffles to raise money for our charities at that time, and hopefully additional fundraising opportunities in the interim.

We hope you understand, and we look forward to more normal days ahead.

Stay well, phriends.

Good afternoon everyone! So after talking a few times, Doc and I have come to a sad decision, with the help of St. Baldrick's, to cancel our live event this year. With that said, PLEASE if you were signed up to shave your head and have not already done so, please record your head shave and follow the instructions listed below. All of the money raised still goes to St. Baldrick's for childhood cancer and you can still continue to raise money. Thank you so much for everyone's help and participation in head shaving and money raising and also to our volunteers who were willing to give up their time to help during the event this year. Here is a little quote from St. Baldrick's.
BECOME A VIRTUAL SHAVEE
Sign up, recruit your friends, families and colleagues as donors and then shave it all off at your home. Broadcast your shave on your favorite social media sharing site and be sure to tag #StBaldricks, #DFYchildhoodCancers, and #VirtualShave2020, so we can reshare your posts! (here are some tips for making your virtual shave fun!)
Also please post your video to St Baldrick's at Mac's Tavern, Cary NC so we can all see. Thank you again and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

BROADCASTING TONIGHT - Key West, FL (2015)
Well, live touring may be temporarily paused, but we're all still in need of some fun as we all do our part to maintain social distance! 8pm Eastern / 7pm Central (with an encore at 8pm Pacific) we will be re-broadcasting a show from the archives "live" like we would from a night on the tour!

A message from our St Baldrick's event coordinator: All events suspended until after May 15th or later. We will update as soon as we know when our event will be rescheduled for. Thanks for understanding.

Dear St. Baldrick’s Volunteer Event Organizers,
We love shaving the way to cures for children with cancer, but we can only fight for them if we are healthy ourselves. Your safety and those of your fellow volunteers remains our top concern. Every crisis is different, and we are clearly in a new world today. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are affected - by the virus and the economic and social issues it causes.
In light of COVID-19 and our concerns for the well-being of the entire St. Baldrick’s community, especially the most vulnerable among us, the Foundation’s Board of Directors has adopted the latest CDC guidance for public events. As Foundation practices never override civil laws, regulations, or public health policies and recommendations, effective immediately, all St. Baldrick’s head shaving events should be postponed to May 15 or later. While we all hope it will not be necessary, we will monitor CDC guidelines in the event it becomes necessary to extend that deferral.
Foundation staff are available to assist you in rescheduling your event. Please call upon us! We know and thank you for the countless hours you have already invested to make your event a success. We also recognize rescheduling is a big ask, and that some of you may not be able to lead an event that occurs in May or later. If you are not able to lead the event in May or later, we’d like to work with you to identify an interim leader who could step in for you this year, hopefully with some mentorship from you, to ensure childhood cancer research is supported to the extent possible.
During this uncertain time, here are other commitments we make to you:
We will keep the lines of communication open. Please call upon us with questions or concerns, or if we may be of support to you in any way.
Foundation campaigns and media messaging will change to reflect event postponements.
Our media efforts will emphasize the crippling impact the coronavirus could have on childhood cancer research if fundraising is suspended.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th we will share suggestions to make virtual shaves fun and inspiring social media highlights.
The Foundation will email all current/past volunteers and donors to update them of these developments and to urge them to renew their support and spread the word to others.
The messaging on the website’s home page will be updated.
Staff travel has been suspended indefinitely.
We are rolling out a new campaign “$20 for 20” to encourage the general public to contribute $20 for the Foundation’s 20th Anniversary.
Shaving for St. Baldrick’s allows volunteers to experience a visible aspect of life as a child with cancer: the loss of hair and the stigma that comes along with that. Donors contribute generously because shavees bravely accept that challenge. Now, we all are experiencing an even more dramatic reality of life as a child with cancer. As we wonder if it’s safe to leave home, or to interact with friends, coworkers and family, we remember children with cancer live that way every day, often for years.
I’ve never been more proud of you, the Foundation’s community leaders, who are working so hard to remind your communities that cancer is not taking a break, nor should we. Kids with cancer are counting on us, and while we may not be able to shave side-by-side in the immediate future, we will work together to ensure research is uninterrupted and our ability to save children is preserved.
We have weathered other storms together, by sticking with the message our volunteers have sent loud and clear: Kids still get cancer, they still need cures, and we are not letting this stop our plans to raise money for research. That’s why I believe with all of us on the kids’ side, we’ll prevail over coronavirus and take childhood back from cancer!

Hi everyone! I run the live music website for the Myrtle Beach area, MyrtleLive.com. I'm also an avid Parrothead! We have no trop rock bands down here, so I am importing one from the eastern shore of Maryland, the Chris Sacks Band @ Local on the Water! It's far enough away to book your calendars now and come on down to the beach in the off-season. This is going to be a great performance. Chris has played at MOTM, Mardi Gras and tons of waterfront venues on the Chesapeake. Friday October 1, the Chris Sacks Music Band is in North Myrtle Beach at Local on the Water! Parrothead party! Hope to see you there! Event: Chris Sacks Band @ Local on the Water
