We are all saddened by the passing of our friend, colleague and fantastic artist Everrett Mayo. I met Everett several years ago at the urging of Eric McRay. Eric described Everett as a wonderful artist and great person. Eric was correct on all counts. I went to see a retrospective of Everett’s work at the Rocky Mount “Imperial Center” and was in awe of his breath of work. I invited him be a CMAC guest artist and he wowed a couple thousand folks that came to see his exhibition ( “PanAmerican Corazon”) February and March 2024. I then asked him to become a member Artist, which he thankfully agreed to. Everett had a profound impact on all the CMAC member artists and beyond. Please have him and his family in your thoughts. In the coming days I will put together a virtual revisit of his exhibition. Hey folks if you’re wondering what some of CMAC member and guest artists have been up to. I have a plan. I will post updates and how to reach out to each directly. I am Paris Alexander, owner/ chief cook and bottle washer, City Market Artist Collective. I decided to shut the doors to better concentrate on my own work as a sculptor. You can check out and follow me at Parisalexandersculptor. I have a number of commissions I am working on as well as gearing up to get back to teaching. Which by the way, I’ll be doing a clay and also stone workshop. So If your interested just private message me your interest and when I get the dates together I’ll reach back. Artspace has also made me welcomed back for a bit so I have my clay studio in room 218. (Image is from a work I did for the Wake Med. Heart center, seamed a good pic for Valentine’s Day).

It’s a wrap! CMAC is closed and I thank everyone for the fantastic ride. I opened the doors with a five year plan in mind and here we are five years later. Regardless of speculation and such, this was the plan. I have been extremely busy and am even now working on a large commission for the Cohaire Indian Tribe that is very exciting. I look forward to all the work ahead, and thank all the participating artists and the many thousands of visitors. P.s I am looking to using this online platform for promoting and letting everyone know about all the great artists that are all around us, including Simon Griffiths who took this photo of me working in my carving studio. Hey all our supporters over the last Five years, here we go! Join our Artist and patrons for some last days cheers. Monday and Tuesday 11-6, Coffee and Donuts, eggnog and spiced apple cider. Please come in to find out what’s next for all our Artists. This is it folks our special Holiday closing exhibitions, and yes we even have a “sale” table with some special items looking for a new home. Five years and then we close our doors.

Folks this is our last weekend open, though we have added two more special Holiday hours. We will be open this Monday and Tuesday (23-24th) 11-6pm. It’s always exciting to window shop at CMAC, the sheer number of works glowing though the window is astounding. However you can’t even see a quarter the works unless you step inside. Now until Sunday we have our regular hours and then we might even have some Holiday hours to share as we prepare to close our doors. Things change! Thought this is our last first Friday we will be open until the end of the month. Tonight however is more likely to be when all the participating artists will all be in the house. “Pieces of my world” exhibition of paintings by Nancy Meadows Taylor.

Nancy Meadows Taylor is our current Guest artist. A nationally renowned artist fills our walls with a series of both floral and maritime paintings in both oil and watercolors. Nancy’s exhibition “Pieces of my world” is now on display at CMAC, 300A Blake st. in historic City Market, downtown, Raleigh, NC. Open Wednesday-Saturday 11-6, and Sunday 12-4.

It’s First Friday and CMAC is ready for visitors. Not only do we have our Redux exhibition of guest Artist, but all our Member Artist will be there; Paris Alexander, Ivana Milojevic Beck, Autumn Cobeland, Judy Crane, Melinda Fine, Paul Gala, Eric McRay, Keith Norval, Anna Podris, Pam Shank, and Kathleen Werner be showing many new works. 300A Blake Street, Historic City Market, downtown Raleigh. 2 1/2 years of great art!

This video was from an opening just about a year ago. CMAC has been presenting great art for 2 1/2 years, and yes it’s been quite a journey, times have been “interesting”. We are all very proud that we had such great support and participation from the community. Tomorrow Sunday 31st, we would like to say thanks. From 2-4pm we will host a closing reception for our incredible guest artist Pat Scull. However we will also have many of our resident artists along with many of other of North Carolina’s finest artist present. As I closed up CMAC the other night I realized what a great spot we were in, and had to take a few images and share. If you haven’t visited recently or not yet, please make sure you do. Couldn’t even fit half the great work you can discover!

A sneak peek at the work of our guest artist Pat Scull. Tomorrow will be the real unveiling during First Friday. Pat and most of the CMAC artists will be on hand to help celebrate this incredible exhibition and introduce you to all their own new works that fill the six other additional gallery spaces. Big thank you to Paul Gala for this little clip and all his help during installation.

I had some time to sit and talk with Andrea Gomez our current and fabulous guest artist. Please bare with bad video editing that’s all on me, we had a long great conversation but I had to cut it down to a fifth, and try to make it coherent.
