Our greatest behind the scenes champion was Janey Lang, White Oaks of Raleigh she encouraged the 15 dealers to hang in there through the closing of The Pirates Chest and to have faith in us. And a leap of faith it was. On the first day, she filled her cases with exceptional fine gemstone estate jewelry.

I wish we had taken a photograph of our 1st day. Our check-out was a utility table with a paper plate cash register! For 25+ years our 20,000 sq. ft. expanse was home to the beloved Carolina Antique Mall featuring 90 dealers. For 3 years The Pirate's Chest continued to run a like business. Closing the night before, we opened, we had no idea what would await us. Sept 1, 2010 we opened the doors to a vast wasteland of debris and 15 brave dealers ready for business.
