I was looking at some photos today and ran across this sketch I did back in 2018 of the building that just burned down in Culpeper. I was sitting at the Beer Hound looking up the street, trying my hand at watercolor (not my forte! ;-)). Thought I'd share to get you out there to sketch and get history down on paper!

Orange Art Center has open calls for artists for upcoming shows. 3 calls at present:

They're looking for art by African Americans addressing certain James Baldwins writings.

They're looking for art by seniors (65+) dealing with the meaning of time.

They're looking for small paintings (8x8 in is the required size) for a Mini-Mastery exhibit.

Call for artists.Stanardsville is hosting the Virginia Black Bear Festival on June 6 from 10a-4p. There will be a contest for painters who show up and paint an image with a bear in it. (Prizes are a variety of ribbons and fun meeting and painting with other artists). You need to get there with your gear by 10a. The whole downtown is the location.

A group is going to plein air paint at Chiles Peach Orchard (Crozet) on August 1 and/or 2. Contact Carol Williams if you plan to attend. She needs to tell them how many painters to expect. [email protected].
