Sharing this very special commission I painted for a client. This was a gift for his wife for Mother’s Day and it was a true collaboration. I enjoyed the process of painting this very much. Sharing now as it’s been gifted and the family is very happy with their special painting and memory.

Thank you to my newest collectors! (I’m not showing faces for their privacy). This piece, “Wildflower Forest” sold through last weekend. I just stopped by the gallery today (to drop off some new pieces) and there are soooooo many beautiful pieces of all various mediums by talented women artists in the Lehigh Valley! Art of the Woman will be open this week (week of April 13, 2026):
Wednesday 4/15/26: 1pm-5pm
Friday 4/17/26: 9am-5pm
Saturday 4/18/26: 9am-5pm

Wow, this piece has transformed - elements of a kind of “family tree” but also clearing away of the cobwebs in my soul. It’s not done. I’m not done. To quote Dave Matthew’s Band: “So much to say”…

This piece is also becoming one about family and feelings. The layers of emotions we bring and give to our family build over time. Sometimes light and love, sometimes darker and more painful. However, we each choose the path through these emotions and find our way. We may get bogged down in a corner for a time, but eventually, we will find our path in our family and discover the harmony we’ve always strived for.

The 48”x36” mixed media piece is coming along. I’ve done a lot of collage and added base layers of paint. I still have a ways to go with this one but I’m really excited about it. I’ve included more personal images because I want people to feel a sense of family and generational history through this piece - the good, the sad, the love, the heart, the trying times, and all the other pieces that make up families. It’s all the intertwined emotions we feel when we think about our family. Again, I have quite a bit more to do, but I’m enjoying allowing this piece lead the way for me.

More layers on the big canvas (it’s 48”x36” - basically the largest canvas I can reasonably fit into my sedan). There’s the pages from King Lear, sheets of music, maps, kozo paper scraps, dictionary/encyclopedia pages, and prints of pictures I’ve taken. I also added layers of molding paste and some acrylic inks. I’m not entirely sure where this is going, but this canvas has been in my basement studio for over a year just waiting to be used. I’m allowing my instincts to guide me at this point.

“Earth’s Layers” invites you to go searching through the rich earthy colors and metallics that are found deep in the land. Think about the layers formed over millions of years of soil and precious minerals deposited. This piece is 30”x15”x1.5”. It’s wired for hanging and has finished edges, unframed for a modern look. It’s currently available on my website.

Started a new piece on the largest canvas I’ve ever dared to use. “King Lear” is becoming a major part of my base collage layers. I’ve always loved me a great Shakespearean tragedy. We shall see over the weeks (and possibly months) how this tragic base collage layer evolves.

PS. I’m sorry, not sorry, to all my former English teachers - I love Shakespeare, which is exactly why I’m using his work in my art. (I’m also using a thrifted copy which was well loved from the notes I’ve read in the margins).

We all go through it…times when we’re feeling all the things - we’re crying, laughing, hurt, angry, sad, loved, hopeful. We keep working on ourselves because the other choice is to give up. Don’t give up. Keep fighting. Feel the things. Identify where they come from and allow them to be released.

This work in progress is a mixed media representation of all those things and more.

Keep going…you’ll get there, in time.
