Association of Chinese Theatres (ACT) was formally established on April 12th, 2015 during the First Association of Chinese Theatres Summit at Princeton University. The founding members are Columbia Blue Glaze Theatre, Cornell Chinese Drama Society, Emory Chinese Theater Club, Princeton Chinese Theatre, UCLA Cfan Chinese Theatre Group, and Wuming Theater Club. We strive to bring the rapidly develop
ing Chinese theatre groups in the United States together through establishing meaningful collaborations and mutual support. The establishment of the Association of Chinese Theatres (ACT) is intended to help unite and bring the rapidly developing Chinese Theatre groups located in all parts of the United States today into mutual support and meaningful collaboration. The annual ACT conference also aims to provide a platform and opportunity for attending Chinese theatre groups to engage in meaningful and in-depth discussions about their understanding of the art of theatre, the challenges and opportunities of promoting Chinese language, art and culture in the United States, and their visions for the future of Chinese theatre groups in the U.S., so that they may collectively better shape the future developments of their own theatre group and of all theatre groups in ACT. At the same time, the conference seeks to provide all attendees an invaluable opportunity to take full advantage of the potential of the burgeoning network of Chinese theatre groups in the United States.
