When we announced Screen Printing on Clay last month, we felt the excitement loud and clear - but we also heard that the late-summer start date wasn’t working for everyone.

So we moved it. Class now starts September 26!

Join multimedia artist & instructor Alexis Babian for 8 weeks exploring the intersection of printmaking and ceramics. You’ll learn ways to create layered, repeatable imagery on clay, including making your own silk screens and printing your own underglaze transfers.

Whether you’re a potter, a printmaker, or just want to experiment with something new, this is one you don’t want to miss.

Saturdays, September 26–November 14
10:00am–12:30pm
Clay Studio + Glebe House field trip
All levels welcome

Reach out if you have any questions or need tuition assistance!

Introducing our new youth & teen instructor, Elycia Castaneda! We are so excited to add her talent, experience and energy to our team.

Elycia Castaneda is an Indigenous ceramic artist based in the Mid Hudson Valley, whose artistic practice is deeply inspired by a love and reverence for the earth. Drawing from the textures, colors, and imperfections found in nature, Elycia seeks to capture a little of that beauty in her work. Her practice embraces the unpredictable nature of atmospheric firing, allowing flame, ash, and other earthly elements to bring another layer of life to each piece. Hand building is at the heart of her practice, while at times she brings in other methods and mediums to open up the possibility for experimentation and discovery. Through a playful balance of intention and chance, Elycia crafts work that celebrates the natural world and the mysteries that emerge when clay, fire, and creativity come together.

You can see more of her work on her website: CastanedaClay.com.

Swipe to see the lineup of her classes that are starting in September. Reach out if you have any questions!

Youth classes are back this September! ✨

If your teen has been wanting to try the pottery wheel, this is a great place to start. Over 8 weeks, Elycia Castaneda will introduce young potters ages 12–16 to the basics of wheel throwing, with plenty of time to practice, experiment, and make some really cool pots along the way.

No experience needed. Drop-off available!

We’re thrilled to welcome Jackie Fischer back to Fall Kill!

Jackie creates playful, whimsical sculptures often infused with tongue-in-cheek dark humor. Her work explores the unexpected, blending humor, curiosity, and a love for the handmade.

Jackie studied ceramics, sculpture, and psychology at Alfred University. She currently teaches ceramic sculpture and runs Mud & Metal Studios, where she handcrafts sterling silver jewelry and ceramic dĂŠcor from her studio in the Catskill Mountains.

Throughout her career, Jackie has received scholarships from Peters Valley School of Craft, Pocosin School of Art, Anderson Ranch Art Center, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She has also participated in residencies at Salem Art Works, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, Chesterwood, and Berkshire Art Center, with an upcoming residency at Women’s Studio.

We’re so excited to have her back at Fall Kill for a class that feels especially suited to her playful approach to making. Handbuilt Candelabras & Centerpieces invites you to create one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces for the table: candelabras, luminaries, sculptural centerpieces, or even a menorah! You’ll explore expressive handbuilding, texture, and surface decoration with plenty of room to make something entirely your own.

Knitting-curious? 🧶 Join us at the historic Glebe House for a relaxed, four-week introduction to knitting. We’ll cover the basics: casting on, knitting, and binding off while making a simple beanie along the way.

No experience needed, just come ready to learn, practice, and hang out with other makers. Already have a project going? Bring it! We’re happy to help troubleshoot, too.
