55 taught me a lot. Mostly that I still have a lot to learn. 😂
It taught me that boundaries matter. That it’s okay to let go of what no longer serves me. That taking care of my health isn’t selfish, it’s top-tier. That the relationships that matter deserve to be nourished, the fun sometimes needs to be scheduled, and faith will get me a whole lot further than fear.
I learned to choose progress over perfection, make time for the things that feed my creative soul and, perhaps most importantly, that you absolutely CAN have your cake (carrot please) and eat it too. Literally. 🎂
Did I master any of this? Hell no.
But maybe the biggest thing 55 taught me is that growth isn’t always about becoming more. Sometimes it’s about being present enough to recognize what you already have.
I’ll always set goals. I’ll always want to grow. That’s just who I am. But at 56, I don’t want a perfect life, and I sure as hell don’t expect perfection from myself.
I just want to notice my life.
The people. The laughter. The ordinary moments. The messy parts. The really freaking beautiful parts.
Here’s to 56 and another 365 opportunities to grow, love, create, eat the cake and notice the magic while I’m standing right in the middle of it. ✨
