Art and music have an incredible power: they allow us to connect from the heart when words are no longer enough. 🎨🎶

According to the Alzheimer's Association guidance, creativity is a fundamental tool to support self-expression and engagement, no matter what stage of dementia your loved one is experiencing.

Here is how you can integrate these activities into daily care:

🎵 The power of a melody: Music can reduce agitation and improve mood.

Tip: Play their favorite music without interruptions (commercials can cause confusion). Encourage movement, whether it’s clapping or dancing, but avoid sensory overload by turning off the TV in the background.

🖌️ Creating with purpose: Art provides a sense of accomplishment and well-being.

Tip: Keep projects at an adult level (avoid activities that feel childlike). Sometimes, they just need you to help them make the first brushstroke to get started. The important thing is to converse during the process and not pressure them to finish the piece in a single day.

Creativity is a bridge to their memories and emotions. What is the one song that always makes your loved one smile? Let us know in the comments. 💙🎶

Caregivers play a critical role in the dementia care journey, yet many continue to navigate challenges with limited support.

Creating a better future for caregiving means providing practical resources, recognizing caregivers' contributions, fostering stronger communities, and encouraging self-care.

When caregivers have the support they need, they are better equipped to support those they care for.

Which of these areas do you think caregivers need most today?
