It starts quiet. A few points of light, a low hum.

Then the room wakes up. Color pours across thousands of bulbs. 
The bass climbs through the floor and into your chest. The mirrors throw it all back at you, forever.

Then a hard cut, and you’re some place else.

“I was able to treat every 45 seconds like a different song, or environment, a different world.” Seth spent six months composing it. Jesse played the light against the sound on a keyboard, gesture by gesture, like an instrument.

The black in these paintings came out of a campfire 🔥

Portland artist Caitlin Pashalek grinds charcoal from her own campfires and mixes the fine powder into liquid. Then she floods a canvas and lets gravity and evaporation help finish the art.

Monoliths is her first full series of large paintings, and it’s now hanging in our Featured Artist Hallway at Hopscotch Portland. Look at it from the end of the hall, then walk up close. Does it feel a bit precarious?

Can you believe? Hopscotch San Antonio turns 6 this month!

Six years of first impressions later, and she is still the one to greet you in the Hop Lounge.

Painted by Los Otros Murals, Shek Vega and Nik Soupe (Los Otros Murals, Shek Vega, Nik Soupè).

Soup brings the photorealism. Shek brings the filigree and the color. Two San Antonio artists, one face.

Shek also founded the incredible San Antonio Street Art Initiative (SAN ANTONIO STREET ART™️), which builds careers for local artists.

Six years in, and it’s still the kind of work we’re proud to stand next to… or under ⚡️

You’ve had this before. Sort of. Maybe??

Spiced Apple Pinwheels are a golden spiral pastry with apple streusel, cinnamon apple compote and caramel drizzle. Yes, it looks like a bit like a toy. No, blowing on it will not make it spin.

Eye Candy is a farmers market caramel apple that fell into a blender: green apple, lemon, caramel, oat milk and graham cracker dust, with vodka. Its twin, Eye Spy, is the same yummy frozen drink without the vodka, so everyone at the table gets the good one.

Oddly Familiar is rye and Jamaican rum with banana and bitters. It has the bones of an old fashioned with the tan of someone who just got back from vaca at a beach.

They taste better than they look which is saying something 👀🤤
