📣 ENEMY enters week two with a rave review!

BroadwayWorld Maine calls it “the perfect play for the present moment,” praising the performances, direction, and artistic design.

And audiences got the memo: all of this weekend’s shows are sold out.

But feel free to show up anyway (no-shows happen!) and we’ll try to squeeze you in.

🚨 Don’t wait to reserve seats for our final weekend!

AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE runs through September 6 at the Crewe Center for the Arts on the University of Southern Maine Portland campus.

Some truths cost everything to tell.

When one man discovers what’s really in the water, he assumes the town will thank him — not turn on him.

Henrik Ibsen’s AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE is a story about what happens when honesty becomes inconvenient, and how far a community will go to protect its comfort over its conscience.

💧 The water is poisoned. The town wants it kept quiet. He won’t shut up.

Henrik Ibsen’s AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, in a searing adaptation by Amy Herzog, asks what happens when the truth is inconvenient — and who pays the price for telling it anyway.

🕐 And that’s our time.

To say OCTET closes on a high note would be the understatement of the summer.

Not only did PTF’s first musical leave audiences stunned throughout its completely sold-out run, it now owns the distinction of our most successful show to date.

If you were one of those who ventured into the basement of the Maine Irish Heritage Center to see OCTET—and especially if you came more than once—thank you. You proved yet again that Portland is hungry for theater that challenges and asks us to examine ourselves as well as it entertains.

For all its apparent simplicity—eight voices, no instruments—this play was in fact quite daunting in its ex*****on. And we couldn’t be prouder of the community of theater makers who pulled it off with resounding success. This phenomenal cast was no accident, nor were the artists and technicians behind the scenes knitting it all together.

Thank you again to the maineirishheritagecenter for sharing our vision of how this insightful, timely play should be staged.

Now onto AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, opening August 20! See you at the Crewe!

OCTET has been something we’ll be talking about for a long time. Sold-out houses. Standing ovations. Audiences leaving that basement in stunned silence before breaking into applause that didn’t want to stop.

Eight voices. No instruments. Four more chances to experience it.

Consider this your last call. 🖤
