McCall Wilson Art

McCall Wilson Art Anne McCall Wilson is an acrylic and mixed media abstract artist and teacher. She is about "fun art" not just "fine art"

She paints with joy energy and shares that joy vibe in her art and with her students. After many years in spa and wellness within the hospitality field specializing in business and concept development , I wanted to learn more about the benefits of the services and even how they could be even more impactful. I studied to become an Energy Medicine Practitioner and Reiki to understand more about rai

sing higher energy and positive vibration, connection to nature and the universal laws. I also studied art and it's impact on our emotion and energy (and our joy factor). I love integrating these to create my own art, communities of creatives and art workshops that elevate our joy and sense of fun.

What if the painting you are willing to throw away becomes your best work? 🎨🎨 UNBOUND EXPRESSIONISM CLASS

That’s exactly what happened in yesterday’s Unbound class.

We worked with two canvases. One was the “real” painting. The other was the “throw away” or risk canvas. It was the “safe” place to experiment, play, try new tools and NOT WORRY ABOUT OUTCOME. Instructions were to not try to create a finished piece.

By the end of the day, everyone agreed:
The risk canvas held some of their best work. 💥💥

That was really the point of UNBOUND. Not to leave with a finished painting, but to loosen the grip on our need for perfect outcomes, and discover what can happen when we give ourselves permission to experiment. - AND PLAY

Lots of energy. Lots of laughter. Lots of What if?
And maybe a reminder for all of us:

SOMETIMES THE PAINTING WE DON’T CARE ABOUT GETTING RIGHT GIVES US THE MOST FREEDOM TO GET SOMEWHERE NEW.😁😁😁

WHAT IF?

It may be one of the most powerful questions an artist can ask.

Today our monthly group explored value — the relationship between light and dark and one of the most important principles of strong design. We experimented with contrast, created smaller paintings in opposing values of the larger, and then brought the pieces together in unexpected ways.

But the real exercise was something bigger.

What if I tried this?
What if I changed that?
What if I took the risk and simply saw what happened?

This group of artists gathers each month to experiment, try unfamiliar ideas and learn from one another. The results are never the same — and that's exactly the point.

Sometimes artistic growth begins with two very simple words: WHAT IF?🎨😁
