McCall Wilson Art

McCall Wilson Art Anne McCall Wilson is an acrylic and mixed media abstract artist and teacher. She is about "fun art" not just "fine art"

She paints with joy energy and shares that joy vibe in her art and with her students. After many years in spa and wellness within the hospitality field specializing in business and concept development , I wanted to learn more about the benefits of the services and even how they could be even more impactful. I studied to become an Energy Medicine Practitioner and Reiki to understand more about rai

sing higher energy and positive vibration, connection to nature and the universal laws. I also studied art and it's impact on our emotion and energy (and our joy factor). I love integrating these to create my own art, communities of creatives and art workshops that elevate our joy and sense of fun.

✨ Some of our Holiday Prep students received a special behind-the-scenes tour of the future Freedman Arts Campus!

It was inspiring to stand in a space that will soon become a hub for creativity, learning, and opportunity while listening to some of our most talented artists, makers, and entrepreneurs share ideas about the impact this school can have on our community. The energy, vision, and enthusiasm in the room were contagious.

Our Holiday Prep class was filled with practical strategies, fresh ideas, and plenty of inspiration for the future. As we continue to grow, Freedman Arts District remains committed to offering business and professional development classes that help artists strengthen their skills, scale their offerings, expand their vision, and transform their creative talents into sustainable economic opportunities.

The future is bright—and we’re excited to build it together. 🎨✨

🚨🌟Freedman Arts District Announces Expansion to 1407 King Street and 600 Wilmington Street for Arts, Crafts & Culture School Campus🌟🚨

The Freedman Arts District is proud to announce the continued growth and expansion into our campus in Beaufort NW Quadrant neighborhood. 1407 King Street and 600 Wilmington Street, will become the future home of the Freedman School of Arts, Crafts & Culture and will be a catalyst for creative opportunity, cultural preservation, and community revitalization in Beaufort.

The campus represents one of the most ambitious investments in arts, crafts, cultural preservation, and creative workforce development in Beaufort’s recent history. We are happy to join The Pat Conroy Literary Center, The Center for Culture and Commerce and United Church Museum in the emerging cultural hub.

The future campus is envisioned as a place where artists, craftspeople, students, historians, entrepreneurs, and visitors gather to learn, create, teach, and inspire. Through workshops, classes, exhibitions, artist residencies, demonstrations, cultural programming, and hands-on learning experiences, the campus will celebrate both traditional and contemporary creative practices while helping ensure valuable skills and cultural traditions are preserved for future generations.

It will be a place where children discover their talents, where lifelong learners explore new skills, where artists find support and opportunity, and where residents and visitors alike experience the power of creativity. The Freedman Arts District believes that vibrant communities are built not only through commerce and development, but through culture, connection, and shared experiences.

“This acquisition is about much more than buildings,” said Cherimie Weatherford, Executive Director of the Freedman Arts District. “It is about creating opportunity. It is about investing in people. It is about preserving culture while building a stronger future. We have seen Beaufort embrace a place where creativity, craftsmanship, history, and community can thrive together. Art is more than decorative, it’s connective. Arts gets us off our devices and in front of our friends and family.”

A cornerstone of the long-term vision includes the development of affordable housing including opportunities for staff, instructors, visiting artists, artists-in-residence, and creative professionals. Our revolving fund program has revitalized 5 buildings in the district and we have 2 more under construction.

“This campus will continue our successful programs of being a place where ideas are shared, traditions are preserved, businesses are launched, artists are empowered, and community is strengthened,” Weatherford said. “We are building something that will serve Beaufort for generations to come. We invite the community to dream with us, help shape this vision, and become part of creating something truly extraordinary.”

The Freedman Arts District will continue working with community leaders, artists, educators, businesses, and residents to shape a campus that reflects the unique character, history, and aspirations of Beaufort.

Look for additional details regarding campus planning, fundraising efforts, partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and future development phases in the coming months
