It was wonderful seeing everyone at Untapped last night what a fantastic event with beautiful weather! I did have several friends ask why the church parking lot was blocked off with armed security guards so I want to share some clarification.

In the past, the City had a lease agreement with the First Baptist Church to use that lot during events. However, during renewal negotiations, the church raised the lease cost from $28,000 per year to $350,000 per year. Because of that drastic increase, the City chose not to renew and instead moved quickly to create a new layout with additional parking lots and shuttles to make sure everyone’s needs were met.

Thank you to the City of Pompano Beach for acting quickly to keep things running smoothly. And to members of the church this is a good moment to ask your pastor why the church leadership wouldn’t want to work with the community as good neighbors??
