On Thursday, June 19 at 7pm The Third Thursday Poetry & Jazz Reading Series will feature SF Poet Diane Frank. The reading will take place at The Record at 255 Main Street in downtown Point Arena. The reading begins with live improv jazz, followed by a featured reading with the musicians accompanying Frank, then an open mic with jazz improv, and finally the reading concludes with more live improv jazz.

Diane Frank is author of eight books of poems, three novels, and a photo memoir of her 400 mile trek in the Nepal Himalayas. She is also Chief Editor of Blue Light Press. While Listening to the Enigma Variations: New and Selected Poems won the 2022 Next Generation Indie Book Award for Poetry. Diane plays cello with the College of Marin Symphony Orchestra. She teaches poetry, flash fiction and memoir workshops at San Francisco State University and Dominican University.

Her first novel, Blackberries in the Dream House, received the Chelson Award for Fiction and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.

Accompanied by Erik Ievins on bass, Diane’s poetry comes especially alive. Music has always been a comfortable second language for Erik Ievins. Classically trained on cello since he was old enough to hold a bow, Erik joined professional symphony and pops orchestras while still in high school. Able to improvise harmonies, shine on a melody, or provide a strong foundation with cello or bass, he has been delighting dancers around the country. He plays cello with the College of Marin Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Golden Gate Symphony, and StringFire, for Contra, English and Scottish dances. When collaborating with poets, Erik expresses the emotions of the poem through music.
