For years, I believed that my truth was trapped—trapped in legal filings, buried beneath procedural chaos, and silenced by environments built on denial. I thought my identity as a teacher, a scholar, and a woman of integrity would be lost in the noise.
But I refused to let my story be just another case file. I am writing from the place of trauma, and that story must be told.
Today, I am thrilled to announce the upcoming publication of my memoir, African Warrior: A Former Employee. This book is the story of an impossible choice: to live your purpose and face violence, or to bury your true self in order to survive.
Across Continents: 16 Workplaces, One Unyielding Fight
This book pulls back the curtain on the quiet, devastating violence of institutional failure and emotional abuse. It tracks my decade-long journey through sixteen different workplaces, chronicling a struggle for dignity that spans Africa and America. From the cherished standards of my mother's kitchen and the corporate floors of Wells Fargo to the intense scrutiny of the Metro Jail, this book is a testament to the persistent fight for integrity across continents and every sector of global and American life. The journey culminates in the courtroom, where I battled for dignity against a college in Idaho, and learned that the greatest act of self-preservation is simply refusing to let them wear you down.
I found that the integrity I learned in my mother's kitchen and the discipline I learned in the chemistry lab were the only tools I had left to fight for my dignity.
The War is Over. Coming Home Begins.
My choice for survival led me to the physical demands of working for FedEx, where I traded the paralyzing trauma of nightmares for bearable, honest pain. This memoir is for anyone who has been told they are "too sensitive," whose pain has been called "bu****it," or whose competence has been weaponized against them. It is a testament to the power of reclaiming your voice.
My journey didn't end with a battle cry. It ended with the quiet discovery of peace—finding an uncorrupted form of service in the most unexpected place, and finally, coming home to the person I fought so hard to save.
