COMING SOON: The Life and Times of Memorial High School: A Pictorial History, 1924-2010
This book, by Buz Howard assisted by Dave Stilwell, chronicles the eighty-six-year history of the old Memorial High School. Nearing publication, it will consist of over 240 pages containing approximately 1000 pictures, a brief history of secondary education in St. Introductions to the various decades relate
the school to the historical and cultural movements of its time. All proceeds of the sale of the book will be deposited into seven selected scholarship funds administered by the St. Marys Community Foundation:
The Tom and Jace Howard Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Andrew Howick Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Jarrett Fowler Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Emil and Onnolee Steva Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Jim and Grace Young Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Dylan Everage Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Jim Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund
Plans are for the book to be available by mid-November, with a cost of $25 per copy. A fund drive is currently underway to defray printing costs and allow the entire sales proceeds to go toward the scholarship funds. The names of persons or businesses donating $100 or more will be acknowledged in the book, but donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated. All funds will be administered by the St. Marys Community Foundation.
