Just a girl, dreaming about possibilities… to the woman 12 years later seeing those dreams become a reality 🥲

I always wanted to make a difference, to innovate, to be courageous. But I wasn’t sure how. And I had/have plenty of moments of self-doubt and questioning if who I am or what I do “really matters”.

Well, these past few weeks getting back on IG has been surprisingly invigorating for me, thanks to YOU all! 🙏🏻😌

Thank you for engaging with my content and reminding me that I do make a difference. Even if I help just one musician feel less alone, overcome an injury, or believe in themselves, it’s all worth it to me.

I have a love/hate relationship with social media (as most of us do). I want to continue building this page as a vessel for human connection, community, and realness. I’m going to count on y’all to hold me to that.

Always remember, even if you think you don’t matter or don’t make a difference in this world, you DO for someone. You matter 💙

Did you know… heat stroke is the leading cause of death in student athletes?

Athletes most at risk are those who participate in high intensity outdoor sports, especially those who wear thick uniforms (hellooooo marching band!) 🎺🥁

Follow this crucial tips to prevent heat stroke and if need be, provide FIRST AID that could potentially save someone’s life!

Have you ever had signs of heat exhaustion during rehearsal?? 🥵☀️ I have! ✋🏻

➡️That feeling when you realize you’re living out the dream that you created in the very place you’re standing… exactly ten years ago 🥲
In 2011 I was a junior in college taking a cadaver lab in preparation to apply to OT school. I remember learning the muscles of the forearms and being absolutely fascinated. In rehearsal, I began thinking about which muscles were allowing me to turn my wrist to drum and had my first “aha” moment that MAYBE I could combine my two passions for drumming and helping others into a career. 🙉
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has followed this page, engaged with my content, and supported me along this journey. 🙏🏻 I plan to continue making valuable content that will help inspire you in your musical/education career!

I believe in you! You WILL accomplish your goals. And - You will accomplish them better if you take care of yourself along the way 🙏🏻 Also - it’s okay to have a day of rest if that’s what you need right now.

If you’re brand new to a group or coming back into a leadership role, you may be feeling those nagging imposter syndrome vibes. If you are - don’t worry about it. You are not alone in them!
Just remember: You are in your position because you earned it and you are meant to be there 🙏🏻 Never lose sight of that and enjoy every minute! Lean on your peers and support each other as you get back into the groove of things. 🎶
💙Sense of belonging is one of the most important factors in our health and well-being! Marching band is an incredible way to fulfil that basic human need.

The amount of body control, core strength, hip flexibility, and overall power/endurance it takes to achieve these high steps is INTENSE.
If you are in marching band, you are an INSTRUMENTAL ATHLETE. That’s right I said it! This is why learning the proper dynamic warm up routine is crucial to preventing injury and optimizing your performance!

Ready to kick off our 2021 partnership with the today with our Wellness Clinic for the student leaders! Excited to spend time with these incredible performers to help them level-up their health AND performance this season 💪🏻🥁

Throwing it back to a solo I wrote a couple of years ago for the staff performance at ! My “old lady hands” weren’t perfect, but it is always SO energizing for me to get behind the drum again and do what I love! 🥁

Side note: I may look totally confident in this video, but I hate solo performances and always get too in my head about it. *Imposter Syndrome Alert!*

One strategy I use to combat performance anxiety is to imagine myself in a practice room with no one watching where I can just be free to play and enjoy the experience. Another technique I use is visualization, which is very popular in the sports psychology world. I will be posting more in depth content on performance anxiety and imposter syndrome soon! 🙏🏻
