Sometimes you start with an idea, but then everything goes wrong and gives you the permission you've been craving to just play.
The last few days, I’ve been carrying some heavy emotions after being reminded how vulnerable some of the roles I have to play in life can actually be.
Sometimes this means investing in people. You advocate for them, support them, trust them, try to see the best in them, and often carry far more of the emotional weight than anyone on the outside ever sees.
And sometimes you’re reminded that you have to be selective about who you trust and how much access you give people to your energy.
Sometimes people are simply not who they present themselves to be. Sometimes you learn that things were happening beneath the surface that you couldn’t see. And for me, that kind of realization stirs up rage, grief, betrayal, negative self talk, and every old wound that remembers what it feels like to have trust mishandled.
So I’ve been letting myself feel it.
Not rushing it away. Not trying to make the anger prettier, quieter, or more acceptable. Just honoring it, letting the dust inside of me settle, and releasing what was never mine to keep carrying.
And underneath all of that noise, I've been realizing there was an empty space where some of my power used to live. And for a long ass time, I've let too many people, places, and things drain what they wanted from my reservoir.
So I’m calling it back.
From every person, system, expectation, and situation I have poured too much of myself into.
I’m calling it home.
Letting it return to its rightful place.
Remembering that caring deeply does not mean giving unlimited access to me and that I am not responsible for fixing entire broken systems.
Some things can disappoint me without defining me.
Some things can change without taking pieces of me with them.
If any of this resonates with you because something in the world or in your inner world has been unleashed - let this be your reminder to call your power back too.
All my everything,
B
