As many of you know, I’ve got an obsession with Circle City Whiskey Company and probably have one of the largest collections of their bottles. With 64 bottles on my shelf, I figured it was finally time to determine one thing…

Which Circle City bottle is my favorite?

To find out, I built a 64-bottle single-elimination bracket, matching similar whiskies and finishes against each other whenever possible. Every matchup is tasted completely blind using the Chris Chapanar | Whiskey Noobs Solo Blind.

For this tournament, I’m using a simplified scoring system rather than my normal review format:
🥃 Taste: 50 points
👃 Nose: 35 points
🔥 Finish: 15 points
Total: 100 points

🥃 Round 2 – Pennington Parlay

Two local whiskey groups selected Pennington single barrels that quickly developed a reputation for their bold spice and funky character. Both are 6 years, 7 months old and share the same 60/35/5 Corn/Rye/Malted Barley mash bill from Pennington Distillery.

Indiana Bourbon Club

• 6 Years, 7 Months
• 123 Proof
• MSRP: $69.99

The Bottle Cartel – “Sweet Heat”

• 6 Years, 7 Months
• 124.4 Proof
• MSRP: $69.99

This wasn’t the strongest matchup of the tournament, but one bottle still had to move on.

Which bottle do you think advanced? 👀🥃

Here are the first two contenders that went head-to-head in my Circle City Whiskey Company bracket… blinded using the Chris Chapanar | Whiskey Noobs Solo Blind! 🥃

As many of you know, I’m a little obsessed with Circle City Whiskey Company At this point, I’ve probably built one of the largest collections of their bottles, and with 64 different releases sitting on my shelves, I decided it was finally time to answer one question:

Which Circle City bottle is my favorite?

To find out, I built a 64-bottle single-elimination tournament, matching similar whiskies and finishes against one another. Every matchup is tasted completely blind using the Chris Chapanar | Whiskey Noobs Solo Blind so labels, price, and hype don’t influence the results.

For this tournament, I’m using a simplified scoring system:
🥃 Taste: 50 points
👃 Nose: 35 points
🔥 Finish: 15 points
Total: 100 points

🥇 Round 1 – Wheat Whiskey Shootout

Two local stores released outstanding Circle City Wheat Whiskey picks, and now they face off for a spot in Round 2.

🌾 SoBro (SoBro Spirits )

• 8 Years
• 110 Proof
• 95/5 Wheat/Malted Barley (MGP)
• MSRP: $74.99

🌾 Red Barrel (Red Barrel Liquors )

• 8 Years
• 109.1 Proof
• 95/5 Wheat/Malted Barley (MGP)
• MSRP: $59.98

One bottle advances. One goes home.

Who do you think wins before the reveal? 👀👇

What an absolutely crazy year it’s been, hell what a crazy decade. Reflecting back, I’ve become someone completely different in these last 10 years. I went from being a college student who wasn’t sure what was going to happen to a father of 2 beautiful little girls and married to my best friend from high school. I’ve made several mistakes but many choices that I don’t look back on. I’m incredibly blessed to have a career in the field I love and a wife who supports me with my constant changing of hobbies but this whiskey one is sticking around. I’ve met so many incredible, kind, caring, and down to earth people through this hobby. Whether it’s someone who I want to chill with, someone who lends me an entire whole house generator when my wife was 38 weeks pregnant, to guys who treat my daughters like they’re their nieces. I still have my core few friends in my life that I desperately need to give more time to (looking at you Jeff 😘) but I know those guys are in my corner no matter what. Here’s to 10 more years and lets hope my 30s will treat me well and maybe I’ll loose 100lbs without taking a shot or a pill 😂 Thank you to everyone reading this post, thank you for making an impact on my life. #30

I’ve got some friends who are just too good to me, nothing is better than people who support you in your endeavors. Not to mention a fellow Heaven Hill fan boy. I cannot wait to review this and blind it against another 21 yr I own 👀
