Wsup yall 👋🏾
It’s Wsup Wednesday!

Today we’re signing AND fingerspelling PAPER 📄

And listen… this might be one of those signs you need to know. Because somehow there’s always a paper somebody wants you to sign, fill out, bring back, print, or find.

I’m showing you the sign first, then the fingerspelling of P-A-P-E-R.

Now it’s your turn. Make a video signing or fingerspelling PAPER, tag KT Louie, and use .

It’s time to TAP IN! 🤟🏾

Every Tuesday, we’re going to tap into different parts of ASL, Deaf culture, history, accessibility, and my own experiences and lessons along the way.

I want Tap In Tuesday to become a place where we can learn, ask questions, have conversations, and hear different perspectives.

What’s something about ASL, Deaf culture, history, or accessibility you want to see covered on a future Tap In Tuesday?

Drop it in the comments. 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

Follow KT Louie and tap in every Tuesday.

Wsup yall 👋🏾

Sometimes learning ASL can have you so focused on the next sign, the next lesson, or what you still don’t know that you forget to use what you already learned.

So that’s the challenge this week: use what you know.

Fingerspell something without looking it up. Recognize a sign you learned before. Practice in the mirror. Use a sign naturally when the opportunity comes up.

You don’t have to wait until you know everything to start putting what you’ve learned into practice.

What’s one sign you already know that you’re going to use this week?

It’s Sign Saturday!

Today’s sign is ELEVATOR 🛗

E-L-E-V-A-T-O-R đź›—

I saw this elevator while I was walking and thought, this would be a good lesson.

Sometimes the best way to learn is to connect the sign to what’s right in front of you.

See it, learn the sign, then practice fingerspelling the word too.

That’s how we’re building our ASL vocabulary over here, one sign at a time.

Now it’s your turn!
Make a video signing ELEVATOR, tag KT Louie and use .

🤔 THINK THURSDAY! 💬

Does it matter which hand you use when you’re fingerspelling the ASL alphabet? ✋🏾🤚🏾

I had this question while learning, so let’s talk about it.

When fingerspelling, use your dominant hand and stay consistent with it. Whether you’re right-handed or left-handed isn’t the issue. Consistency is what matters.

đź’ Before you watched the answer, what did YOU think?

And if you’re practicing your alphabet with me, make a video, tag KT Louie, and use so I can see you!

Keep thinking.
Keep signing.
Keep growing.

It’s Wsup Wednesday!

We’re getting those hands moving today with a little A → F fingerspelling practice. 🔤

Watch it once, then run it back and sign with me!

Let me see what you got đź‘€

Make a video fingerspelling A through F, tag KT Louie, and use so I can see you!

Wsup yall 👋🏾

It’s Tap In Tuesday!

One thing I’m learning on my ASL journey is that there is no ONE way to be Deaf. 🦻🏾

The Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community isn’t one-size-fits-all. People communicate differently, have different experiences with hearing technology, and may identify differently too.

That’s why instead of assuming, we can simply ask:

“How do you prefer to communicate?”

Sometimes being more inclusive starts with being willing to learn.

💬 Tap in: What’s something you wish more hearing people understood about the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community?

I’m learning too, so let’s keep the conversation going.

Follow KT Louie as we learn together. 🤟🏾
