I might be on vacation, but I still had to show y’all what went down at our last workshop! 😂🎨🎃

This week we tried something NEW!

One thing about me, I’m always willing to try something new. But I’m also learning what works best for my space and the children I serve.

I’ve learned that children younger than 3 may need a little more comfort from Mom, while children older than 10 may need activities that are a little more challenging.

And I want EVERYBODY to have a good time. The parents, the children, AND ME! 😂❤️

So our recommended age range will remain 3–10 years old!

Now, if your child is a little older, don’t count us out! We can paint, draw, play football, or find something that interests them.

Younger? YOU GOTTA COME TOO! 😂

I’m always willing to make adjustments! I just ask for at least 24 hours’ notice so I can prepare activities that work best for your child.

My goal is to give EVERY child the opportunity to create, explore, play, learn, and express themselves in a space where they feel safe and loved.

And sometimes that means figuring things out as I go!

Anywhoooo, we painted pumpkins, got messy, made volcanoes, ran around outside, played, and made some more memories! 🎃🎨

I’m enjoying my little vacation, but knowing I get to come back and do these workshops makes me HAPPY!

But these kids are teaching me, it’s ok for it to not be perfect, as long as it’s your best!!!

WHEW! 😮‍💨😂🎃🖌️🎨

Today’s workshop wore us ALL out!

I had a mixture of children with Level 1 and Level 3 autism today, and let me tell you, they ALL did what needed to be done! ❤️

We painted 🎨
We played 🛝
We dug out pumpkin guts 🎃
We made a pumpkin volcano 🌋
AND we got some arm and face painting in!

And IDK why all these kids wanna race me out the door! 😂😂 Like, where are we going that we gotta go so fast?!

I’m just so happy to have a space for my favorite kind of kids. A place where they can come, be themselves, create, explore, and HAVE FUN! ❤️

Another successful workshop 🥹🎨

Mom came in and instantly started doing that mom thing 😂 Trying to stop him from touching stuff, going ahead of me before I explained what we were doing, making sure he was listening… you know, that thing we do when we’re nervous our child is gonna mess something up or do something they “shouldn’t” be doing.

You don’t gotta do that with me. 😂💛

This is a SAFE space.

Trust me, there isn’t a child around that’s gonna destroy my stuff like my own son Amari. Which is exactly why he ain’t invited 😂🤷🏾‍♀️

Jayce came in, explored, touched some stuff, moved ahead of me a few times and guess what?

WE WERE FINE. 😂

We did SO MUCH in literally 42 minutes.

He came. He conquered. He CHEATED and beat me 3 times in a race I don’t even remember signing up for 😒😂… and then he was ready to GO.

And guess what?

That’s okay too. 💛

Y’all gotta remember my nephew Mylo is autistic. And while I understand every autistic child is different, that boy has taught me SO much over the years. I’m rarely shocked or offended by their moods, behaviors or preferences.

We literally have to bribe Mylo with Robux sometimes to stay places OR even go in the first place 😂

So if you’re thinking, “My child is not gonna stay there for 2 hours…”

THAT’S OKAY.

Two hours is the time I make available for them. It is NOT a requirement for them to make it through the whole two hours.

If we create something, run around, interact a little, get some social engagement in and your child decides “alright lady, I’m ready to go home now” 😂…

THAT IS STILL A WIN TO ME. 💛

And guess who still talked him into going outside and racing me to the swings when he was ready to leave?

ME 🤭😂

I have a way with those kids. You’ll just have to come see for yourself. 🎨💛

My other businesses never make me nervous.

I don’t really worry if people are gonna buy my desserts or book me to face paint. I KNOW those businesses.

But this??? 😭

This is different.

I pay rent for this space.
I invest in supplies.
I run the website.
I market it.
I plan the workshops.
And then I have to trust that people are actually going to show up.

And today was hard because nobody did.

Yes, I made my own kids come 😂 but I’m trying this new thing where I’m honest about the days that don’t feel good too.

Today didn’t feel good.

But I showed up.

And I’ll keep showing up because I’m trusting somebody MUCH bigger than this program.

God.

Honestly, He IS the program. 🙏🏾

I don’t know what HOPE Studio will look like 6 months from now, but I do know I can’t expect God to bless something I’m too scared to keep showing up for.

So… I’ll be there. 🥹💛
