KID CITY is a monthly dance party for the whole family. Happening on the last Saturday of each month from 2 - 6 pm. The first event will be held July 27th, 2013. WHERE
KID CITY is located in Brighton Heights (northside) at the All Saints Community Hall. Located on the Lower level at 3577 Mcclure Ave. They are on the corner of McClure and Davis Ave. KID CITY is not a church sponsored event but they are very supportive of this project and they have been so gracious to give this project a chance in their fantastic hall. Adults are $5 bucks each, kids are free. (we ask for a 4 kid per adult max.) WHY
Parents seem to go “into hiding” once kids enter the bigger picture. This monthly dance party will serve as a casual and positive event for parents from all over the city to connect and let loose and remember some of their own musical roots. Kids love to spazz out and parents love to watch. Between the vendors, the art and the music we hope there is a little something for everybody. A portion of the annual proceeds will be donated to deserving non-profit organizations helping the youth in Pittsburgh’s Northside communities. Kelly Day a community leader from Brighton Heights that has spent the past 20+ years building up a massive collection of vinyl and the past 3 years building up a collection of children of her own (two boys, Thurston and Winslow). KID CITY was an idea that Kelly had when she was pregnant with her first born. Her dream is to share her love of music with other families in a place where parents and kids can let loose and have a great time. Through the joy of uplifting music and unstructured dance Kelly hopes her dance parties will encourage community amongst the parents and offer a different type of socializing for the kids. Kelly’s DJing experience varies from 4 years at WPTS in the early 90’s, a monthly DJ residency called “Sussidio” at a popular neighborhood bar in Hollywood, CA and appearances at various private parties and clubs throughout Los Angeles. Kelly is also an alum of the DJ Scratch Academy founded by Jam Master Jay of RUN-DMC. ETC. We are mindful to the language content in the songs, but the occasional slip is inevitable. There is no chicken dance here unless it’s mixed with Black Sabbath. Bring your whole Birthday Party crew or celebrate holidays with us for special surprises.
