🇩🇪🎶 Get ready for a taste of Bavaria at A Taste of the Pittsburgh Folk Festival!

We are excited to announce that the Isartaler Bavarian Club Pittsburgh will be performing at this year’s festival on August 1, 2026!

We, the G.T.E.V. D’Lustigen Isartaler (Gebirgs Trachten Erhaltungs Verein) , the region’s premiere authentic Alpine cultural group, created to promote, educate and foster among its members a genuine love for Bavarian & Austrian alpine traditions, customs, folk dancing, singing and camaraderie, and to uphold and display original authentic Bavarian/Austrian Tracht (regional clothing); and to support other German & Austrian organizations in their effort to do the same. We have been an active club in Pittsburgh since 1972, which began at Saint Anthony’s (German) Catholic Church in Millvale, North Hills, and officially incorporating in 1983. Now, over 50 years later, we have members from all over Pittsburgh and the tri-state area. We have proudly represented the “Germans of Pittsburgh” at the Pittsburgh Folk Festival since 1973. Our practice locale is Holy Spirit Lyceum, in Millvale. Our dancers compete in regional and national competitions with the 75+ German clubs in North America. The top 3 winners of the individual couples and groups travel to the Bayerische Löwe (Bavarian Lion) dance competition hosted by a club around Munich, Bavaria, Germany! 🇭🇷 Experience the beauty and energy of Croatian folk dance at A Taste of the Pittsburgh Folk Festival!

We are honored to welcome Arianna Ordway, who will be leading our Croatian dance lesson on August 1.

Arianna’s passion for her Croatian heritage began at just three years old when she started performing with the North Hills Junior Tamburitzans. Over the past 20+ years, she has performed with numerous Croatian and Eastern European folk ensembles throughout the Pittsburgh region and has dedicated herself to preserving and sharing these rich cultural traditions.

A graduate of Duquesne University, Arianna was awarded a prestigious scholarship with the PIFAI Tamburitzans, where she toured and performed across the United States as both a featured vocalist and dance soloist. In addition to her extensive study of international folk dance, song, and music, she has also trained in ballet, tap, and contemporary dance.

Arianna is also deeply involved in researching, restoring, and preserving traditional Croatian costumes for folk ensembles and has spent more than 20 years studying under world-renowned Croatian choreographer Željko Jergan. Today, she travels throughout North America helping teach and promote Croatian folk dance alongside him.

Takumi Kato is an award-winning taiko drummer from Japan who now performs with his three children as Peaceful Forest.

Since 2022, they have performed more than 700 times in 41 states while working toward their dream of 1,000 performances across all 50 U.S. states.
