Been having a lot of thoughts lately and while writing more poetry and journaling (something that I'm not new to sharing on this platform), the method of sharing is. By putting it directly on my feed instead of in the highlights that expire after 24 hours, I'm hoping it lands. I'm hoping it is seen. And I hope to discover new ways to format text in a land that barely cares for images.

I've become increasingly curious about playgrounds. It could be that now more than ever I've been considering "play" as an act of joy for adults. What does that even look like or mean? How can I be a steward of joy in even uncertain times? Or maybe it just takes me back to a time in childhood, a memory of a daydream.

Holding Onto Something (sweet) is a culmination of painted works on unstretched and stretched canvas that play on the memory of moments experienced through plants, florals and fruits. These created images are pulled from memories of market places, the taste of a peach, and a cold glass of tea in the hot afternoon sun, to the memory of coy fish and marigolds. Her larger piece, ode to the many house plants that have lovingly seen their way both in and out of her home are a statement of the passage of time, and a look back to moments in time that she has lived through and has appreciated. It’s the little things that we all share and hold onto.

This past October I had the wonderful opportunity from to take a trip to Dupont Circle for a self driven professional development. Although there were alot of things that did not go as planned, I'm grateful for the opportunity to meet Nicola, head curator of 11:Eleven Gallery, to hear her wisdom, see some very beautiful art, walk around an even more beautiful city, and make some connections to my past and present. This opportunity opened up the door for me to explore more of my writing so yeah, I made a new Tumblr account to share my writings in another way that isn't just instagram or my diary!

It's been awhile since I've photographed something with the intention of editing it in black and white. It's also been awhile since I picked up the camera to intentionally create something that wasn't a commissioned job. So that's the growing in and of itself.
I'm still finding my way through this new artist practice and would be lying if I said it wasn't daunting. But that's okay!

There are so many beautiful and special things happening with this painting all that I’m excited about. And happy that this piece is one of the best pieces (even though i always feel like that as I’m working on something).

These past few months have been a dark time. But I’m happy to be able to feel awakened again in my spirit. Today was a step in the right direction. I’m so grateful for .honch and shows buttery spread at it’s amazing and you should visit it!! Also grateful for it was the first day of the cohort and i already feel hopeful about this next chapter.

I’m very excited about this piece and the direction that it’s taking! To be honest so far painting it get confused on the coke blocking but I’m trying to think of each part like a puzzle piece, it’s been helpful! Excited to see how it all comes together but enjoying the ride!

My sleep schedule has been questionable at best. But recently I’ve found real joy in making art again and reading good books. Onto the last piece of Outside In (at least for now!) excited to see the direction of my new art practice.
Also. My love for black gesso grows more and more each day, i got this from , so grateful always for their supplies! They get me right every time!
