My name is Kathy Maccarone, a custom watercolor artist. My specialties are custom house portraits and family pet portraits as well as book illustrations. For decades, I studied acrylic, oil, and, most recently, watercolor painting through university courses, nationally recognized workshops and retreats, and continuous private lessons. I am a member of the Visual Art League of Lewisville and the Vi
sual Art League of Texas. As a teenager, I would grab my oil paints, brushes, and sketch pads and head to the Pennsylvania countryside to paint the landscape. As a single woman in the 1970s, I knew that I needed to select a pragmatic vocation. I found that in a much-loved career in medicine, becoming a board-certified orthopedic nurse, proudly serving the public for 48 years. But, my love of art never wavered. I continued to study art throughout my life, as I married, gave birth to two children, and watched them grow. It was my stress reliever, mode of relaxation, and creative outlet. After I retired, I quickly found my second act as a humble, grateful artist. Today, my ultimate joy comes from creating a portrait that brings a smile to my client's face.
