This Saturday, Dormont Arts invites you to an unforgettable day of creativity!
DORMONT, PA – September 12, 2024 – Dormont Arts proudly presents “Art in the Park” on Saturday, September 14, from 3 pm to dusk in Dormont Park. This extraordinary celebration of creativity furthers Dormont Arts’ mission of engaging and uniting the community by cultivating creative experiences. Dormont Arts thanks Moonlit Burgers, Salon Atmosphere, Nate & Inga Briggs, Dormont Florist, Ruff Edge Forge, and Dormont Councilperson Brandon Ledford, and Dormont Councilperson Daniele Ventresca for their generous support of Art in the Park.
Art in the Park celebrates art, music, and community through a diverse exhibition of immersive experiences and displays of original art throughout the park. Local non-profit organizations will lead fun, creative booths, while arts vendors will sell their wares along a beautiful tree-lined path at the top of Dormont Park. Featured immersive experiences include a bubble garden, a large-scale fort made by community artists and festival attendees, a record swap, and performances by the Sangria Trio from 5-8 pm.
FEATURED MUSICAL EVENTS: A highlight of the festivities will be a traditional bluegrass jam circle led by John and Wendy Mackin. Attendees are encouraged to bring their instrument to the Annapolis Pavilion in Dormont park from 3 to 4:30 pm and join in the jam session. At 4:30 pm, Barnacle Feet, a Pittsburgh jam band featuring bubbly and energetic covers of classic 70s and 80s tunes takes the stage, followed by the reggae and rock influenced Tom Batchelor Band at 6:30 pm. Additional music performances will be scattered throughout for the duration of the event. Families can create their own percussion instruments beginning at 3 pm and join in a community drum circle at 5:45.
