Summer Kicks Jazz Band will open the 7th Annual Pittsburg State University Summer Music Fest for a night of music under the stars on the front lawn of one of most beautiful performance spaces in our region, directed by veteran music faculty member Robert Kehle. Kaleidescope of Styles, 7:30 p.m., St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 306 W. Euclid. Free. Faculty, students, and regional artists will collaborate to create an intimate evening of standard chamber music repertoire.

Battle of the Bands, 8:30 p.m., front lawn, Bicknell Family Center for the Arts. Free. Local and regional bands, including the J3 Band from Pittsburg, the 501B Band from Baxter Springs, and others will perform an outdoor concert with an eclectic mix of styles. Friday, June 21
A Musical Soirée, 7:30 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 415 N. Pine. Free. Faculty, students, and regional artists in a variety of ensemble combinations will be enhanced by the beautiful acoustics of the newly-restored historic church.
Saturday, June 22
Summer Band Concert, 8:30 p.m., front lawn, Bicknell Center for the Arts. Free. Led by PSU Music Department faculty member Dr. Andrew Chybowski, the performance will feature patriotic and pop pieces, and standard band literature.
