Two more going on the road .
Here I am with my Louise Nevelson art work I though I would never see . I once and a lifetime . Thank you Walton family for bringing this to Arkansas .
When I was in college I loved Louise Nevelson art . I thought I would never get to New York to see her work ever . In the summer of 2021 my daughter took me to Crystal Bridges art museum in Bentonville I turned the corner and thought oh my . Is this a Louise Nevelson . And sure enough I started to cry . It was a wonderful thing to see something that you taught about and admired in art . What a life experience . The life of an art teacher .
“It is not the medium that counts, it is what you see in it and what you do with it.” — Louise Nevelson
Born in Ukraine, artist Louise Nevelson was raised in Maine and moved to New York City in 1920 where she pursued formal training in artmaking. In the early 1940s, she began making assemblages, filling her studio space with materials that she salvaged from the surrounding neighborhood, favoring wood because it was an inexpensive and readily available resource.
To make this sculpture called “Sky Cathedral,” she filled open boxes with wooden pieces she found on the street, including chair backs and furniture legs, and scraps from old buildings. She painted everything black and stacked the boxes on top of one another.
Despite the uniformity of its color, Nevelson’s work offers us a lot to see. There are crevices and shadows, hairline cracks and rough grain, as well as objects that are easily recognizable and others that seem eerily familiar.

This is the history of art where it began and now can you recognize a period of art .
52 years ago TAPESTRY album was released and became the soundtrack of many of our lives at the time.
It is one of the best-selling albums of all time, with over 25 million copies sold worldwide. In the United States, it has been certified Diamond by the RIAA with more than 10 million copies sold.
It received four Grammy Awards in 1972, including Album of the Year. The lead singles from the album—"It's Too Late"/"I Feel the Earth Move"—spent five weeks at number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Easy Listening charts. In 2000 it was voted number 74 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums. In 2003, "Tapestry" was ranked number 36 on Rolling Stone list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
King wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album, several of which had already been hits for other artists such as Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and The Shirelles' "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" (in 1960). Three songs were co-written with King's ex-husband Gerry Goffin. James Taylor, who encouraged King to sing her own songs and who also played on "Tapestry", would later have a number one hit with "You've Got a Friend". Two songs were co-written with Toni Stern: "It's Too Late" and "Where You Lead".
